I'm all about the CostcoI'd see that as a feature if I get to go to two Costcos instead of just one... but I might have a couple shares worth of bias there![]()
They have mentioned vampire drain in the past as they have done several things to reduce it.I was hoping to see something about vampire drain in the notes, but if they ever do address it I bet they won’t announce it since that would be admitting there’s a problem.
I receive mine as well but the release notes look identical to the previous update. That was quick, I just got the update ready notification. Will install tonight.
AFAIK, the truck and FOB were already "talking" to each other any time they were in range... Rivian has just enabled proximity (un)lock based on that communication that's already occurring.I doubt it would make the vampire drain worse since the vehicle already is listening with Bluetooth to detect the phone key. So from my understanding it would just apply the same way to key fob now. If anything I would think that the battery life of the key fob would be reduced which is why a battery level for the key is being added. I am also assuming that the setting to turn proximity off at home works the same as with the phone key.
I’ve had mine for a year too and most of the updates are things my other cars had right outta the box. ? But I’m still happy they are coming.I completely agree. I've had my R1T for nearly a year and it is like a different vehicle with the improvements they've made. It is much improved.
I’ve had it for a year and the proximity key thing has been my biggest daily gripe. (First world problems I know). I’m glad they’ll move the feature to the fob now…and please don’t wait till I’m lingering at the door this time." Proximity Locking and Unlocking via Key Fob ".. sweet!
It's kind of odd when you have to whip out the fob to lock and unlock an $80K vehicle in the 21st century.
1st world problems for a 1st world truck; you are right to complain about them!I’ve had it for a year and the proximity key thing has been my biggest daily gripe. (First world problems I know). I’m glad they’ll move the feature to the fob now…and please don’t wait till I’m lingering at the door this time.
Let me clarify. I have basically disabled phone as key because it draws so much phone battery power. It is supposed to be disables when at home but it definitely still notices when I walk near the vehicle and flashes the taillights.I doubt it would make the vampire drain worse since the vehicle already is listening with Bluetooth to detect the phone key. So from my understanding it would just apply the same way to key fob now. If anything I would think that the battery life of the key fob would be reduced which is why a battery level for the key is being added. I wouldn't be surprised if battery life doesn't decrease.
My drain has gone down quite a bit to almost 1 mile (not 1%) a day as long as the temp is in 70-80 range. BMS is the main draw when temps fall out of that range. Rivian is being uber conservative with their packs.I just got back from a trip where ai left my truck sitting at a parking garage for 58 hours. Lost 10% over that time which shocked me. Granted it was cold out, but I am hoping that it was downloading the update during my time away which contributed to the high drain.
It doesn't change the map, at all... It just affects the source of the data for searching POI. So type in "Starbucks" and it will search Google Maps data to get locations. The map is still OpenStreetMaps rendered by MapBox, and routing is still MapBox.What's the Google Places going to unlock? Anyone tried it? I pretty much only use Google Maps to find coffee shops, restaurants, or errands. Is this...that? What's the difference, or what's the benefit to the current Rivian open source maps?
