I don't see the length of the boat in your posts, but at 14K lbs it's gotta be fairly long and that may help keep your truck off the slimy end of the ramp due the the length of the trailer?...only concern i have is pulling this thing out of the water on a possible slippery ramp...
Length is 31ft and looking at the hummer ev towing even bigger and heavier boat makes me think the rivian should easily do this.I don't see the length of the boat in your posts, but at 14K lbs it's gotta be fairly long and that may help keep your truck off the slimy end of the ramp due the the length of the trailer?
If it's a problem... time your retrieval based on the tides. My trailer is a float-on bunk type. I know I cant retrieve my boat at dead low tide due to the slope and length of our local ramp, so I check when low tide is and base my return to port times around that time. Anything other than low tide may keep your truck off the slimy sections of the ramp.
My dad has very much this "what's the worse that can happen" attitude and I continue to watch him break his stuff, waste his time and have a much harder go of it than someone like me who believes in the right tool for the job. Yeah you might be fine, it might go great. You also might blow an airbag on your truck and I'd assume Rivian has a way to tell the tongue weight so you'll be paying for that repair out of pocket.im sure most of the responses are jokes but jeez makes me think most of the guys in here are as conservative as they come lol...im not asking if i can drive 70mph on the the highway pulling this thing...all im asking is if i can just move the boat and launch it all within a half mile distance.
and even if this thing has a tongue weight of 1300 lbs i wont have problems with frames bending and hitches snapping. only concern i have is pulling this thing out of the water on a possible slippery ramp...however even an f250 that is rated for 14k lbs towing weighs less than 7k lbs which is lighter than the r1s.
i think the wheelbase length assessment was the most accurate...either way i have decided to just borrow an f250 since this isnt my boat yet...once its my boat i could care less if my boat and truck drops in the water.
It's not about using the right tool for the job in this situation... it's about trying see what some of it's potential is... if you've seen some of my other posts I drive past 0 miles to see how many extra miles I can squeeze. My dad has very much this "what's the worse that can happen" attitude and I continue to watch him break his stuff, waste his time and have a much harder go of it than someone like me who believes in the right tool for the job. I've seen this movie before and it does go fine many times, but there are times it doesn't. The biggest factor that makes what you're doing dangerous is when you start running equipment outside of design perimeters you really cannot predict what is going to happen. I guess you could call it conservative, I call it using tools correctly. Things are always done better, faster and without breaking when you choose the correct tool for the job.
At the end of the day it's your truck and your boat though and if you genuinely don't care if your boat or truck is wrecked then more power to you.
Its potential is 11K pounds because that's what it's rated to do safely and repeatedly. Like I said there is a YouTube video of someone pulling a full sized semi tractor trailer out of a ditch with his Rivian so if you're just going with theoretical someone did 80K lbs give or take already. What are you going to prove with your boat that hasn't already been done? It's not about using the right tool for the job in this situation... it's about trying see what some of it's potential is... if you've seen some of my other posts I drive past 0 miles to see how many extra miles I can squeeze.
anyone that says they wouldn't even put this boat on the hitch I would have to say are on the conservative side. But what do I know ?

You know the biggest drawback with airbag suspension right? What happens when a seal fails on an airbag again? Rivian isn't going to cover customer abuse under warranty, or at least they shouldn't. Like I said before though if you want to break your shit feel free. There's really no need for the back and forth because at the end of the day it's not my truck and I was just trying to give some friendly advice.Tongue weight ?
