I see political undertones and insinuations in many posts so far?

Or Drumpf. Or any controversial topic that could start a run-away dumpster fire. Stifling traffic, for a site that benefits from traffic. Ironic. Really? Someone had to ask? New to the internet?

R2 isn't coming for 2 years and there will be 100% NO change to Rivian's strategy regardless of what happens. No company is going to outsmart whatever happens just like the pandemic and subsequent supply chain issues that followed in 2020-2022.

Didn't Rivian announce the R2 will use a LG battery from their new Arizona plant? In all honesty the tariffs will hurt all cars since parts come from all over the world.
It isn’t just batteries that could be sourced overseas. Majority of car parts are now made in China or Mexico. And Trump has threatened tariffs on both.

That is what I said, car parts in general aren't made in America. Can't wait for this sh!tshow to start.

Yea, like I said, the IRA bill told them to get out of China, the batteries are moving to US production. After watching the Legal Eagle vid on the Tariffs, the plan is to tariffs made in Mexico/Canada stuff? So many of the "American" vehicles are made there. It's going to hurt them a lot more than Rivian if those tariffs come the way they are being proposed.

I just cancelled a Texas construction project that was going to stretch into 2Q because 60% of Texas construction workers are undocumented immigrants and I cannot eat the cost and delays associated with a labor shortage. People adjust, everyone is poorer.
These are the calculations I'm doing now too, but waiting to see what happens as well.

Too soon to know but depending on how it plays out it will have an impact. Rivian can't seem to catch a break. First it was the pandemic with the R1, now tariffs with the R2.
Pandemic, then the IRA itself was the 2nd hit. That was a big one as just about the time they were up to production none of there vehicles qualified for any tax credits to consumers unless they were price locked which Rivian lost at money on. Now the IRA excludes many EV buyers and didn’t index msrp limits to inflation. 2032 same msrp limits in 2024 as will be in 2032. 😂 such a bad program it is turning out to be.
