Just received an unexpected text today saying my R1T is being prepped for delivery -- haven't even received the 8-steps email yet.

I have to admit, all the emails about people having problems with their trucks is making me wonder if I should postpone delivery and wait a little while longer for Rivian to iron out the issues. If your truck was ready to be delivered today, would you take it or give Rivian more time to sort out the issues?

And for those who have a R1T and haven't had a single issue, I'd love to hear from you. Naturally we mostly hear from those with problems, but would love to hear the other side of the story.

7200 miles so far.. no issues with anything so far (knock on wood) iirc, only had to reboot the infotainment system once for a software glitch

I answered the question for myself on Saturday when I took delivery. Very short experience so far with only a few days and a few hundred miles, but I'm extremely happy with it so far. That said, I have a spare car. If it broke down tomorrow and was out of commission for a couple of weeks it would be annoying but not meaningfully disruptive to my life.

As someone who has so many little issues, its all adding up and I'm wishing I could wait and pick one up a year from now. The truck hasn't broke down or stranded me yet, but all the little things are getting old. Today I'm adding the HVAC vents aren't responding when I move them on the screen. All of my issues are just so inconsistent. When it works, great. But more and more often I'm finding things not working as they should.

Im daily driving it, around 3k miles right now

Only 350 miles to base my viewpoint on, but so far basically flawless and incredible experience.

Same boat here, we have another car so I would be able to work around any major issue (although I would be majorly annoyed). Knock on wood, not even a week in, but I have no issues and it's the most amazing vehicle I've ever driven. Everybody who sees it, and especially rides in it, is blown away. Plus the thought of not having to go to the gas station is particularly satisfying at this moment in time (my first EV).

The only issue I had was a small one where one of the gear guard doors wasn't popping open enough for my finger to fit in there. Mobile service came out Brooklyn to Philly suburbs and adjusted it. No other issues and zero regrets about getting my R1T.

Keep in mind most content people don't go on to forums and rant. So while you're seeing negative feedback, understand that there is an even larger ratio of those who would have positive feedback if surveyed.

Was just talking about this with some friends last night, i'm a early Nov '21 order which put me in the Oct-Dec 2022 original delivery time. I'm thinking at this point if they called me tomorrow I might have to request a delayed delivery of around that time or would do Jan '23 delivery.

I say that now but that could go out the window if I got a call. LOL

How far do your tunnel doors open now? Mine barely opens at all but it's the same on both sides. Didn't even realize this was yet another issue I have.

Now they open enough for me to easily get my fingers in. Before the adjustment, it took 2 or 3 attempts of pressing the button and getting my fingers in.

I have thought about delaying delivery based on the shear number of posted issues in the forums. I am a 3/21 pre order with a Jul-Sep 2022 delivery window. At this very moment I am undecided but ....

I have decided to keep a second vehicle available.

In a worst case scenario if the R1T had issues such as paint problems or body damage I would refuse delivery. If they did not provide a new truck at a later date then I would request my deposit be refunded.

My expectation is that there will be a few minor issues at delivery with a reasonable chance for more issues to pop up. Hopefully none that will strand us somewhere or cause an accident.

@CGM55082 Invariably the R1T will be a better truck 1 year from now. There will be a ton of software updates, likely some hardware improvements to issues that are being identified by the early adopters and, as such, your experience as an R1T owner will have the potential to be a lot smoother.

The question you have to ask yourself is, do you want to potentially be a beta tester now and deal with issues and growing pains but enjoy your truck in the process, or would you rather wait for a more refined product that has the benefit of all of the feedback people are giving RIVIAN now and over the first year?

I am also a November '21 R1T reservation holder even though I have been following RIVIAN since 2018. intentionally waited to put down a deposit to have at least a year delay between the first deliveries and my delivery.

I have made the mistake of purchasing first model year or new model entirely (BMW i3) vehicles in the past and paid the price of dealing with a lot of first year gremlins especially for new EVs which are very complex (BMW i3) and in this case, a new car company to boot.

Look at the issues Tesla owners faced with their first year vehicles as a guide.

For me, I'm happy to wait and to let the folks who have taken on the beta tester role do Gods work so I don't have to.

The real question you have to ask yourself is “Do you feel lucky?”

I picked mine up Saturday and so far haven’t had any problems. I’m sure both hardware and software will be more solid in a year and even more solid in 2. The question is whether you would rather be enjoying the car now(ish) with occasional problems or in a year with less problems or in 2 years with even less or maybe buy a used one in 10 years for cheap but with problems due to age. Pick your poison. There is no right answer.
