Just curious if anybody else is seeing issues with some of the doors being difficult to close. The three doors on the right side of my truck (yeah, including the gear tunnel door) have to be slammed or they won't close. Just about 100% of the time when someone gets in the passenger side of the truck they have to try to close the door multiple times. The drivers side doors are perfect.

The truck has been in the shop 2x now to resolve, and they still can't get it right.

Definitely agree. I've just learned to live with it.

Mine have been getting easier to close over the 4 weeks I've had the truck. The back doors are still more difficult than the front, but they are used the least.

Is there a difference if at least one of the windows is partially open?

I believe so, but I have no empirical evidence to confirm that, only my senses.

Has everything to do with the cabin being sealed when the doors are closed. It creates a vapor lock of sorts. I suggested to my guide back in March that they need to roll into a sw update to slightly open one window when a door is open. Far easier to close the last door that way. Used to be a semi-common feature on cars in previous decades so it should be easy enough to adopt. We'll see.

My Tesla Model S did this. Mostly to prevent breaking the window since it had no doorframe around the window.

Would keeping the pass through to gear tunnel help relieve pressure and ease door closing?

Doubt it. I'd hope the gear tunnel is just as water proof as the cabin.

I believe it's due to weather sealing being "too effective". Cars like my MINI and Corvette slightly lower the window of a door when you open it. Typically it's done on cars with frameless windows to help prevent damage to the window when you close the door, but it also allows pressure equalization when you close it. I think in the Rivian's case you're basically building up higher pressure inside as you close the door and without a way to vent that pressure, it resists the door closing properly. It's possible that Rivian could do a software update to do the same trickery with the window to make closing easier.

I don't believe the gear tunnel is waterproof.

I soft close the gear tunnel door, then use my palm over the top edge to click it shut.

Definitely should be. The truck is rated for fording at heights that would submerge the gear tunnel doors, and it's carpeted (and has a passthrough to the cabin!). Better be waterproof.

Indeed the gear tunnel should be! Good to know! We've had crazy pollen here lately and I've seen it make it's way in on the inner door edges, though that could be from...you know...gear.

Thanks for the clarification.
