Still no voice texting capability like virtually every other new car on the planet but please by all means bring back the silly Halloween mode. What a disgrace Rivian software is. I’m sick to death of RJ and his “protect the stack” mentality.
Is that you Florida Man?

Fanboy at his best.
Is this the best you can do? Just throw little hissy fits or say hurrrrr derrrrr fanboy. Its not being a fanboy to expect you to take responsibility for your shit. I bought a '20 explorer ST that I hated but instead of pissing and moaning about it on a Ford forum I traded it in.

It was both more productive and less annoying for everyone.

A lot of gatekeeping in here. My 2 cents is that people are allowed to be disappointed in the software update just as others can be pleased with it. Or should there be no discussion? Why is this even a thread in that case? Just to be an echo chamber circle jerk?

Myself, I am happy with the constant improvements to the already above-industry-average software. But I’m not a fan right now for unrelated reasons*.

* I spent 6 hours round trip today to pick my T up from the 2nd round of service to fix the tailgate, only to discover upon arriving home that they’ve introduced yet another new problem with the tailgate that will take another trip to fix. And the issue that it was in for itself had been introduced by a mobile tech at an earlier appointment. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Sure there can be disappointment that their feature didn’t get added. But the constant bitching and saying Rivian is going them wrong gets old really fast.

It's not a discussion it's just whining to spread this doomer bullshit in here. If you really truly hate the Rivian software stack you should sell your truck, no further discussion needed. I get being frustrated and I'm cool with people being critical but blaming Rivian or acting like it is just the worst vehicle ever means you should do something about that. There are hundreds of other choices of vehicles, get one of those.

Great point.

And to echo the wishlist, I highly suggest everyone upvote and add their own wishlist items on Rivian.Software. While it’s an unofficial repository, the likelihood Rivian ISN’T looking at it, is a hard 0%.

I know this is way off subject, but I too bought a '20 explorer ST that I hated and immediately traded back in.
Anyway, excited for ? mode!

They desperately need to move the Trip meters to the driver gauge cluster, like Tesla has it. Accessing it just hideous since they buried it a few updates ago. Should be one of the optional screens with Tire pressures, nav instructions and efficiency meter. Keep hoping they'll fix this in the next update, but no such luck so far.
OH, and PLEASE move the darn clock to the driver cluster too. Takes up no space. Such a pain trying to read it while driving in its current location at the far right side of the center screen. Would be nice to be able to just quickly glance down to the driver screen to know what time it is.

Rivian isn't blowing it out of the park, but they're releasing consistent upgrades, and the vehicles are getting progressively better. Tesla was similar, if not worse worse 2 years in, though they actually had decent service at that point.

That being said, some items, like being able to use the bed camera, seem like an easy win. The programming and testing can't be that hard, and this is coming from someone who runs a software development team.

Prior to Tesla bring out software defined vehicles, your best day with a new car was on day 1. Now for some lucky folks, your vehicle improves each month for FREE (for now) Sure some people want different things to come out faster, but let’s visit the common bitch.

Voice texting, CarPlay, whatever we call it should never be something we covet. Anyone notice the amount of vehicles sporting the student driver stickers? Crap loads here in Colorado. Little secret folks, for many of you, you will always suck at driving but thanks for the initial warning with the bright yellow sticker.

How can the biggest bitch be about something you shouldn’t be doing while driving in the first place? I for one actually enjoy ignoring the phone and I was originally hardcore for CP until I spent some time in a Rivian. We can make any excuse why we have to have the ability to voice text, email, whatever. You can preach safety all day if you had the feature, how about just try and enjoy the journey? Guess I am old enough to remember a time when a distraction was trying to fix your cassette with a pencil while driving due to dropping it while flipping to side B. Lane centering was your knee on the wheel as the tape takes two hands.

Give me Apple music in the selection, let me remove unused icons for streaming services I don't use and I am good. I would prefer holiday modes more than AA, CP as it brings a smile to kids who see it. Hell, I will take a digital version of the Thomas Guide as it always got me there unlike Google Maps. The best thing you can do for yourselves is point your vehicle to an area with no cell coverage, and explore something you didn't find following some loser on Instagram looking for likes.
