I wonder if this was done primarily for cost-cutting or if they want to actively dissuade people from putting refrigerators in the front? I suppose the latter is futile, however, given the proximity and ease of accessing the 12V batteries.
I remember them(Venice hub)recommending the frunk for refrigerators

Maybe this means they’ll suddenly get rid of the visually clashing brushed/chrome-looking R1S window trim some day, too, and simplify production with a much more cohesive black trim.
Next month announcements

Sorry for the bad photos. VIN 118xx. Only one magnet on frunk load floor. Don’t know if this has been noted before. Used to be two.

Curious how well does one magnet hold? Seems like if it is of adequate strength it should be sufficient.

Yeah my truck doesn't have the outlet either. When I saw that my initial reaction was eh. It doesn't really bother me personally. All manufacturers try to save money by streamlining.

"Nickel and diming" continues
A couple positive changes:

I seem to recall that when I placed my reservation Rivian was charging for the inflator hose & accessory kit, now included.

I also recall a lot of people being put off by having to pay $2,000 for the off-road package when all they wanted were the front tow hooks… which are now $300 or free? I’m getting the underbody shield so not 100% sure.

Yes, good point. Everyone who has had the 12v removed has this new magnet design. I concur it feels pretty strong so no complaints there.

Lean Design... do you really need that front 12V outlet? Do you really need that flashlight in the door?
You only really need one gear tunnel door right?, etc.....

Let's hope they don't start stripping away more and more over time.

FWIW.. I have a 12V powered hydraulic jack I use to rotate tires... I was intending to use that 12V frunk outlet to power the jack
