Looks like Lucid is sticking to the hearse styling. I can buy something despite the looks, but the ownership bothers me.
Acura ZDX looks even more hearse-like. Honda's designers did a great job on the Prologue though.

The Gravity is interesting but in all the media it looks more like a minivan than a SUV. For now I prefer the Rivian styling.
Once someone likened it to a Chrysler Pacifica, I cannot unsee.

I believe Lucicd's less expensive SUV model that will sit below the soon-to-be-released Gravity will be named Earth.
The starting price will be around $50,000 when it becomes available in 2026.
The unborn R2 will be met with competition.

.
To me it looks like a Model Y. If RJ sticks to the price, the R2S will start at $45k and of course if you get different options it will go up from there.

I would gues that this will also start at 50k and go up from there.

I don't think Rivian has anything to worry about. There are more Rivians on the road than Lucid. I think the only thing Lucid has over is the charging architecture is able to charge between 250 and 300kW.

Lucid is going bankrupt. Can't see them making it despite the Saudi money.
They have really good hardware, they may not make it building the vehicles but someone would by the tech.

The 2025 Air can get 5 miles per kWh and goes 420 miles with an 84 kWh battery. They also have one rated at 516 miles of range. Those are pretty good numbers for a car the size of a Tesla Model S.

They do have good hardware but can’t sell cars fast enough nor are they profitable. Just a matter of time.

I thought of one more thing that would be cool. If they made a battery pack as a range extender that attached to the rear bumper. Making it attach to the rear bumper it could be removed when it is not needed and added when it was needed. For me it would need to work with a trailer attached to the SUV as I would want it to extend the range towing my camper.

There’s no point in wondering about the earth when the gravity has barely even shipped. See how that does first, Lucid might be done before earth even has a chance.

While I love my Rivian and have an R2 on order, I'd seriously consider the Lucid once I know more about the specs. I don't need a super capable off-roader. Knowing how efficient Lucids generally are and the very nice interiors, those things would matter more to me.

Honestly, since getting my R1T, I have a lot less use for and interest in the R2. I planned on using it to replace our Model 3 that my wife drives the most. She wants something more upscale which would be satisfied by our Model 3 highland performance but my oldest has sort of taken it over and I know my wife would curb the heck out of the wheels.

So we'll be in the market for something about the size of the 3, I had a Y and hated it, so something like the Lucid might be a great option for us. The R2 when we ordered, seemed like the best option. By the time it comes out, or when we need to replace the 3, we'll definitely survey the market. If it wasn't for the size, I'd just pick up a used Air for her and call it a day.

The Air is a great car, and I like a lot of things about it more than my Plaid. At the time I bought the Plaid, there was no Sapphire, still not sure it is worth 250k. I am not going to spend over 80-90k on any new EV going forward. The depreciation hit is just insane. That is what pushed me into buying a used Rivian instead of a new one. New EVs depreciate like last year's Android phone. To much truth and similarities with that analogy.

Lucid, in spite of their apparently limitless funding from The Kingdom, has shown absolutely zero capability to scale production to significant levels. Until they do, the idea that they will have a mass market vehicle that they can produce in volume is purely theoretical.

100%. They are still having trouble getting the Gravity out, which was supposed to start shipping last year. They have yet to make it in any meaningful quantity. Few people have even driven one, let alone taken delivery.

By volume Lucid is mostly a niche brand right now. If not for Saudi PIF funding, their best hope is to license their drivetrain to large legacy auto brands (and they talk openly about that possibility). And despite being a small player no one is putting them on death watch because of that seemingly endless PIF investment. Until they license their tech, and until they scale to higher volumes, they're just a long-term hedge against declining demand for oil for the Saudis.

How are Lucid's serviced? Assume they have service centers somewhere.

A battery pack range extender is dead on arrival. Any meaningful range extender will weigh more than 500lbs. You’ll need a mini-crane to lift it. And certainly not something you can add or remove at home
