Idk…The EX60 is dorky to me…especially the interior. The P10 is not similar in specs either. The P12 is, and it’ll be a lot more expensive than the R2 Performance. I‘ve been briefly tempted by these new rivals popping up…especially the iX3/iX4, but I cant see myself jumping ship tbh. I’m really happy with Rivian. I love my R1T, just wish it was smaller. R2 Performance is gonna be awesome. Really want the Tri-Motor, but I suspect thats not coming anytime soon.
As a Rivian fan, I really dig the cross country trim of the EX60. However, the P12 version of that is likely at least a year and a half from landing stateside. The regular EX60 does lack some flair in the design department. It's funny, BMW went off the deep end on the iX3 design while Volvo was very restraint on the EX60.

I'm with you on the Tri-Motor R2. I figure a decent amount of current R1 owners would have been/will be interested in that when revealed. I'm sure its coming but I can't imagine it being announced for at least another year and likely landing even later.

My rational currently is that the LE R2 is great for now but I don't foresee it being my long term vehicle as these new entrants hit the market. While great and optimally priced, the charging speeds will hurt the chances of me keeping it longer than a year or two. By 2028 we should hopefully have the Scout, R2X, Cross Country P12 and maybe even a Lucid competitor in this space.

There's a significant portion of the market for whom 7 inches of ground clearance just isn't enough. There is a huge difference in soft-road and snow performance between an Impreza and a Crosstrek, for instance. Volvo and BMW doing mid sized SUVs with 7" will sell a lot of units, but there are also a ton of us holding out for something that is more capable.

I appreciate your perspective and I have also gotten burned twice but I remain confident in this current generation of hardware. The NVIDIA Thor is 10X the Tesla HW 3 and 6x the current Rivian dual Orin. The RAP1 has a lot more compute. The Mobileye Chauffer is designed to be true "eyes off" L3. Both GM and Ford have promised L3 on their next gen (GM in the 2028 Escalade next year). IMO this is getting very close. I may throw in the towel on it, but for now I am holding out to see if people can finally deliver on the promise. (We KNOW it can be done. I have been in enough Waymos to know that L4 is a technically solved problem. It is now just economics and rollout.)
Waymo L4 is not a technically solved problem. not when they're making left turns on red here in Dallas just this week.

The P10 is comparable in specs to the Premium. Very similar acceleration and range, faster charging, comparable equipment (but with likely a better stereo) and likely to be $4k more. That is then partially offset by having free interior color changes (Rivian likely to charge) and likely cheaper paint up charges.

No wonder Volvo fired its chief designer a few months before reveal -

I have to agree. Rivian is one of the very few companies that truly gets vehicle interior design, especially as it comes to fluidly integrating touch screens. So many vehicles seem like the screen is an afterthought sticking up and out of the dash like an iPad on an homemade bracket. I'm probably in the minority but I find that highly repulsive.

I've been a happy owner of multiple generations of XC60 and am an unfortunate early investor in Polestar but I still wouldn't touch one of their EVs at this point. Based on my admittedly limited circle of friends, they seem to be even more problematic than Rivians (this is still tbd for the EX60 and R2), their infotainment experience needs a lot of work (based on direct personal experience, admittedly not with their latest and greatest), and I'm not at all a fan of the EX60 interior design (as mentioned above). Not only are the aesthetics bad but the usable cargo capacity is lacking compared to R2. For these reasons, the minimal impact of the 800V architecture just wouldn't be enough for me to even consider it over an R2. But I can see why it might be very appealing to others with differing tastes and needs. But realistically, I don't currently see me stepping down from my R1 to an R2 and, if I were shopping Volvos, I'd be looking at the EX90 over the EX60. So I guess this is just my 2 cents as someone not currently in the market for an R2 or EX60.

I appreciate doing something different, but this is a bit busy, a little "over designed".

The glovebox thing isn't an issue with us, the iX has like 2 cards and a keycard sleeve, the Jeep glovebox is full of ducks :D

Might not matter to some, but I would rather purchase from a US owned brand than a Chinese one, specifically Geely Motors.

Priced mine at $68k. Wonder how much more the P12 will be. Will still look to test drive but aside from charging speeds and some luxury amenities, the R2 is the winner and the iX3 is the downright better option.

Not interested in P6 or P10 as only P12 battery was being sourced from CATL who has implemented the new NP 3.0 (No Propogation) standard. P10 and P6 come from Sunwoda who has not made any same announcement that I can find. It was P12 or nothing for me at Volvo, and now with no Heather Bronze (the only interesting color) and being forced to 21" wheels, that ended that for us!

All "insider" indications so far seem to indicate P12 availability in the US "after November 2026 - maybe Feb '27" and pricing starting above $70k. Fully-optioned plus destination and taxes, based on the P10 I spec'd (which w/tax and dest would be about $75K)- I could easily see P12 at @ 80-85k
