Thanks for this. I drive long distances and I can’t in good conscience put my 70 pound dog in a crate that’s too small for him to be comfortable for eight hour drives. If the ceiling height at its lowest with the lip is 29 inches, I don’t think his standard wire crate is gonna fit without scraping the top. Like you, I prefer a folding crate but may have to go to a Gunner, I guess. I think I’m gonna wait until I can actually see an R2 , even though I’m already on the pre-order list, and bring his crate to confirm or deny it will fit. I would love to be able to fit a 40 or 40 inch crate somehow in the back but they’re always too tall for most cars. I’ve thought about splurging on a custom-made crate and that’s still in the back of my mind.

I have a Variocage Single L for my GSD mix (she’s about 60lbs and the size of a small GSD.) It fits in my model Y trunk right now. Seems like it should fit in the R2 as well

I didn’t see any gear/cargo tie downs in the trunk of the R2 when I went to the block party. How are y’all planning on securing your dog crates?

I currently just have 2 attachment points from the crate to the back of the seats where the car seat anchors are. Was hoping the R2 would have cargo tie downs or something to secure the base of the crate.
