It also looks like they are working on/coming out with/imagining a modular hitch-mounted system like the Yakima EXO System. You can see in one picture it has a storage-like thing and in another they have bike racks:

I mean, camp kitchen, but that's pretty cool.

Also, I'm seeing the same crossbars across all model ranges, which, if true, thank goodness.

Could just be a picture w/o the rainfly. Here's our iKamper w/o the fly, which may garner similar critique.

In any case, if it makes it to market (big if), I'd bet that it's in partnership with a manufacturer who knows what they're doing.
Maybe, but there are quite a few RTTs out there that don't provide a good experience in the rain. The first one I ever bought was terrible in the rain and led to the purchase of a different one, though now that I have the truck, I'd like to move to one of the iKamper Minis or one of its clones.

That tent looks like it was designed by someone who's never camped outside of California before. It would do horribly in rain with that large flat expanse on top and seemingly no provisions for overhangs on the windows/door to block rain. One of the worst things in an RTT in the rain is not being able to have adequate ventilation without getting wet.
Yeah, not the greatest for Oregon Coast Memorial Day camping trips. The heated mattress seems great, but not if everything gets damp through the sides.

Nice, so powered = lighting + fan (AC)? I wonder if the opening/closing is motorized.
Lighting + heated mattress. (Per the Top Gear video.)

I hope that light fixtures in tents in campgrounds don’t become a thing. Admittedly, we are already there with RVs, but this one is higher and can be seen from farther away.

Rivian obviously doesn't seem to understand that there is an order to things.

Like before even announcing the Camp Kitchen 2.0 they need to actually release the Camp Kitchen 1.0.

The same is true for the Tent.

There still is no Rivian supplied Tent for the R1T.

There is no tent for the R1T because it blocks the rear top brake light, and they failed to come out with a fix for that.

The same "overlooking a fundamental problem" impacts the new R2/R3 tent where it can't possibly do good in the rain.

Then they decided it would be a great idea to rain on the R2's parade by announcing the R3/R3X. Its as if RJ is the type of person to announce his engagement at someone else's wedding.

Despite this I still placed a reservation for the R2.

I’ll sell you my iKamper mini when the Rivian one comes out 👀

If the Rivian one comes out? :p But we'll see. I'm going to try my CVT out on the truck this season and see if I can deal with it, but might wind up buying something sooner. The one I have has the big awning over the entry and was really meant for a rooftop, not bed height.

Totally get that! Before you pull the trigger on an iKamper (if you go that way) just hit me up!

Relax. It's just a concept prototype. Real deal will probably have a rainfly.

Doesn't use the hitch, slots into the bumper on each side individually.
Hopefully it would still work with the R1. It would be good to have those products work across the platform. I'm a little worried it won't work with 1st gen R1s.

I think that's a cool idea as long as it has a hitch too. I've seen a ton of those rear racks rocking back and forth slightly on the road that are attached to the hitch. The physics are just hard to overcome with a single attachment point, even with the best locking hitch racks.
