eBay listing (not mine) of gen 1 front subframe. Subframe is a frame module that is mounted to the main chassis/frame. Suspension arms are mounted to the subframe. Each suspension arm joint has a certain range of adjustment available. This adjustment is what gets worked on when alignment is done. Now keep in mind tolerance stacking. If mating of subframe to chassis is out of spec, or the dimensions of subframe itself is out of spec, that will affect range of adjustment down the line, at suspension joints, and not allow enough range of adjustment to correct tracking. So then the remedy would be to replace the subframe and basically rebuild.
