Hello All, long time lurker and currently a May 2022 reservation holder for the R1T.
Currently waiting for Dual Motor + Powered Tonneau options.

I do see the stickied threads for delivery day checklists but I was hoping for an overarching guide (and i did try searching bar with no luck) from interest to taking delivery.

So far as I can gather from lurking on these forums:
  • Have electrician install proper wiring (and potentially a box) to your garage.
    • Seeing varying threads recommending 50amp circuit vs. 60 amp circuit
    • Installation costs vary widely based on length and state. Anywhere from $400-$1200+?
    • Better to hard wire your box vs plug and play
    • Rivian's official charger looks nice but considered "overpriced"
  • See relevant tax credits provided by federal and local levels
    • EV Charger Installation rebates
      • Example: My energy company rebate is $250 for having an electrician install 240v NEMA 14-50 outlet or a hardwired charging station at your home and provide an installation receipt. You must apply for a rebate within 6 months of installation.
    • Federal EV Tax Credit (2022)
      • Must have signed the rivian written binding contract to purchase prior to August 16, 2022
      • Must fill out an amended 2022 Tax Return with Form 8936
  • Get pre-approved for Loan
    • United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) seems to have a popular interest rate for auto loans
  • Get insurance
    • Can go through Rivian's supporting company with Nationwide as the underwriter
  • Delivery Day
    • Review stickied delivery day checklist for panel misalignments, QA issues, etc.

Let me know if I need to update any misinformation or have anything else to add.
Hope to help someone/learn something new!

The two really big ones aside from the 8 steps. Figure out how your going to charge it and then also line up any protection like PPF. Many folks get at least full frontal PPF to protect the high impact areas from paint chips. Ceramic coating also makes maintenance cleaning easier and enhances gloss/shine.

I have had EV for the last 7 years. I can tell you the number one thing I see time and time again is folks get an EV and they didn't figure out the charging ahead of time. The truck does come with a mobile charger but charging on 120v is very slow and not feasible for most.

I always recommend a hard wired (no 14-50 outlets) EV charger for permanent home charging with the max amperage that your service can support. 48 amps is the max charge rate for the Rivian on Level 2.

Hardwire @ full 60 amp which means 80% safety is 48 amps is the only way to go with this monster BEAST!

Anything lower is like watching paint dry.
