I like driving over 100 (kph). Actually, I just prefer the metric system when riding a bicycle because it isn’t a big deal to ride at a speed of 30+ kph compared to 30 mph. And it is easier to calculate a gradient in your head using the metric system instead of Imperial. It is purely a personal preference and it aligns with the rest of the world. Plus, work in medicine is all done in the metric system.
Oh for sure - I'm a big fan of metric over imperial/'Murican! But in the context of driving on the roads, keeping the units of measure in your vehicle as is being used by the infrastructure is safer.

I do wonder how the speed limit signs/images on the driver display are rendered - I'm guessing they are image files that get pulled up when a matching sign is seen on camera or map data says to load it. I will say that when I was in Canada, the display's signs matched what was on the road when I swapped settings to metric for "speed and distance".

2022 R1T Quad
1) Software? I feel like Rivian is the only company that takes customer feedback seriously. If there is a problem, it gets fixed.
2) Build quality is good. I’m in an early Gen 1 R1T Quad, the fact that it still has no build issues is amazing.
3) Tires and rims make a huge difference. I had a loaner when they were working on my tonneau cover with 20” ATs. Drove and handled like a truck. Also ride height and suspension settings. The only thing I’d think would be different is if you feel the dual motor kick in the 2nd motor when accelerating.
4) R1T will get replaced with another R1T. Another Quad if I can afford it.
5) NA

As the title says, potential new owner & have Qs.

About me: I'll be trading out my Lucid AGT(3.5 years of ownership) for TriMax, if we decide to move forward. I have owned a couple of MS as an early adopter as well.

Primary reason for change: Lucid AGT software reliability.(Don't want to bring out the dirty laundry in this forum).

1) I understand from what I read, Rivian's software is a lot more stable than Lucid. However, with that said, what are the most annoying software gremlins the owners have faced?
2) Build quality: I have read about suspension issues. Are they common across the board? Panel gaps? How is the build quality? I understand, after owning multiple vehicles, things do fall apart, but would like to get insight of anything that is more common than not.
3) Test drove Dual and Tri. Same road, same drive settings, same test route, but the tri felt more comfortable. We could feel the road on the dual, but the tri was more comfortable. Does the tri have 'better' suspension? Or is it the seats on the tri that much better?

4) For current owners: If you had to replace your R1S, what will you replace it with today?
5) For any Lucid transplants, here, please DM your opinions. What you liked and disliked?

Our goal, if we switch, is to get an EV. We have owned ICE German cars and brand loyalty is not high on the list for me. Storage space is important (Lucid does this best imo), and a reliable drive. Staying away from MB for now. Audi & BMW are option.

Concerned if I jump from Lucid to Rivian, will it be akin to from fire into boiling oil?

Thank you all in advance. I'm sure I will have more Qs based on the responses.

I have a R1S Tri-Motor. Picked it up in Miami in August. Zero issues. Never been back to a Rivian service station for anything. I had to do one soft reset because of a charging station issue that would not reset. Rivian support was perfect. I traded in a 2018 Buick Enclave. The updates keep it getting better.

Some quirks in software when I first got my Gen2 in September 24’ but otherwise very smooth on both our Rivian’s (wife has an early VIN R1S Quad we got from a Cadillac dealer). Came from a Model Y LR and while the Tesla was ahead when I first got my R1T, I no longer feel that’s true. Rivian seems to be making huge gains in a short

As mentioned, we have a new one and an older one. The early VIN (3XX) R1S is just as solid as the

as others have said, def tires and drive settings. I have a Tri as a loaner right now and it rides effectively the same as my Dual or wife’s Quad in terms of comfoer

4) For current owners: If you had to replace your R1S, what will you replace it with today?

would never drive anything else but a Rivian at this point. Will probably replace the R1S when it’s hopefully at 300k+ miles with whatever the newest gen is

1. I can't remember the last time I had a software bug. There were some weird issues in the first few months that I resolved with a reboot. I rebooted it quite a bit back then, but it has been a while. I like to reboot it a few days after an OTA update just to be sure all the modules are running properly. But that is just me. It's like rebooting a PC just to get a clean start.

2. The build quality of my truck is excellent. I only had one minor issue that I had them fix at the 7000 mile service.

3. The upgraded interior in the Tri is significantly nicer than the Dual, IMO. I think it is very possible that is the difference you noticed. It also could be different wheels between the two as someone else suggested.

4. I have a R1T and it is my first pickup truck. I freaking love it and there is nothing else that I would want to replace it with except the new Quad R1T. But I prefer the more efficient Tri.

I am a big fan of Lucid and it is too bad they have had so many software issues. I know the Gravity is in pretty bad shape right now. Hopefully things will get better soon.

I have a quad R1S since early 2023 and love it.

1) No big issues. The worst I have seen is occasional issues with Apple Music, but that is ~1% of the time for me. More often than not, it works just fine.
2) I have not had suspension issues. I had some minor gap issues where the door and liftgate would rub as they warmed from temps and expanded. Both handled within warranty. I did have my AC condenser fail which was also fixed under warranty.
3) I cannot comment as I have a quad
4) I would absolutely consider buying a Rivian again. The only thing I don't care for (beside price) of new generation models is the lack of a physical interior door handle. I would legit consider not buying a Rivian while that is the case. I simply CANNOT understand why it was to removed. Incredibly over engineered which is honestly a bit surprising. I hope they move away from that because of enough people complaining or federal requirements.
5) N/A
