My time frame isn't really a good example.... because it only took a week to mess up the door alignment worse and cause the wind noise and door dents from the door fixture. I only guess about the fixture they use for holding the doors, because both my front and rear drivers side doors had dents in the same spot at the same level across the doors. I think the biggest issue is the door alignment probably needs two people to hold the doors, because they are heavy, but they probably only use one tech. One tech can't hold the door, align it and tighten the bolts at the same time. Hence the front edge of my drivers door being scratched and the four small dents acrross the center of the doors.

Back to the time frame... 1 week was enough to fix it.... but it took three weeks for the bodyshop to fix it and then another week once they had to fix again, because "Mr. George" put the wrong guy on the buffer that day and he burned through the freshly painted clear coat.

Besides all that, still the best car I've ever driven... and I'm happy after it was finally fixed correctly.
I agree, love the vehicle. People at the SC are nice. But this was exactly why I made this post. And it happened to me lol. Bringing in my car to get a minor panel adjustment only for them to create a bigger issue. Waiting for all this to be done with and I can continue to enjoy the ride.

Just going through the same. Took the car in for driver side door adjustment. While the door couldn't be fixed after overnight keeping at the SC in-house and needs to be outsourced to a 3rd party body shop, now I am introduced to wind noise on freeway that was not there before. Plus they adjusted hood, which I did not ask for, AND it is now misaligned and makes screechy noise while opening and closing. SMH

I did my own. It was the rear passenger door only. I looked at it closely and could see the door just needed shifted in on top and out on the bottom at the hinges. Took me about 15 minutes taking my time to get it almost perfect. I could see where when you mess with one panel it could affect the others joining it. Luckily mine was just one panel out.

So I never noticed or bothered to notice the extremely slight misalignment of the front passenger door on our '22 R1S, then a tiny paint chip appeared on the front outer edge of the door 14+ months into ownership. A very good team from the local body shop looked at it and determined that there was rubbing on the order of micromillimeters from the front fender that over time has caused the chip to occur. Is this a warranty issue or does one have to identify these issues soon after taking delivery? Any input is welcome

That should be covered now. You can submit a service request and Rivian will call you to confirm. If you have any questions you can ask them then but I don’t see it being an issue. My door paint chipped a little also but I didn’t want it repainted so I didn’t even bring it up. A little touchup paint will take care of that. A full door paint would only cause more issues with paint in my opinion.
