Now if rivian would just add a hardware option for fingerprints scanner and a pin for locking the drawer. Many more options including gunsafe etc
At least a valet mode or set this to unlock based on driver profile.

But yeah a fingerprint/pin lock not attached to any profile would be safest

I wanted to make a Camp Speaker Drawer as OEM-looking as possible.
Does it lock like OEM speaker?

edit, I see it doesn’t. I see the one from twraps doesn’t either. This is when I will jump in. Once there is a fully sealed and lockable drawer.

This is really excellent, my dude! It looks like you're printing it in three parts, correct? I can only imagine the supports!

Hopefully you're not printing in PLA!

Thanks! Supports aren’t bad. The middle has no supports, the back has minimal on the build plate, but the front has a bunch of supports inside. They popped out pretty easily though. Printing in PETG.

Nice work! Which reminds me that I need to take a look at that speaker. Had the car for abut 3 months and keep forgetting to use it. Cheers.
Similar issue....I keep forgetting about the flashlight

Nice work leveraging the 3D scan and getting it all scaled correctly!

I am a novice at 3D printing and wondering what the drawback is to using PLA here? I have found it to be the easiest to print with.
PLA will deform considerably in a hot cab during the summer, so much so that it may become permanently stuck in the speaker cave.

You can prototype in PLA, but the finished build needs to be PETG or better.

PLA will start to get soft at 60 deg C, which is very much possible inside the car cabin,
also it is not UV resistant.

Yup - a high quality PETG can be used. The issue is that some PETGs are not really high quality. They are a blend of materials that lower the glass transition temperature to something that doesn't work well for our application. Generally, I'm a big fan of anything that Polymaker makes.

ABS is better but is more susceptible to UV.
ASA is essentially ABS, but with better UV resistance.

Both of the latter two require an enclosure and filtration.

+1 for Polymaker, I get the most consistent results with that brand.
