My 2nd R1T modification - display screen protection

After I received my truck back from my PPF installer I decided to install my 2nd modification. It was was a fairly easy one that required some patience and meticulous preparation.

I elected to go with Abstract Ocean’s screen protection in a matte finish to avoid nasty fingerprints. I did a lot of research and decided on this brand because of the excellent customer reviews.

Let us know how well it works. Over the years I have tried so many that claim they hide fingerprints but I’ve never found one that I was happy with. Either I have extra greasy fingers or my expectations are too high

I gave up on screen protectors as well. They never do such a good job that I can avoid wiping them down nearly as frequently as I would the screen itself. To be fair, I definitely have oily skin and even with that I've only wiped the center infotainment screen in mine twice since I've owned it, but have yet to have an issue where I can't see something on the screen.

I’ve considered a screen protector but haven’t picked one yet. I like to looks of the matte finish…looks really good. I assume you installed all three?

Just installed these on my R1T. Still very new but so far I really like the matte finish.

Definitely takes some meticulous preparation and patience to get rid of all dust, but overall not that hard to install.

This was my second modification as well. Installed these a month ago. Excellent quality and very happy.

I just bought a small roll of PPF and cut it to size. I learned that trick from a detail guy. You can trace a template from your screen to cut the PPF. Then spritz just a bit of water on the screen to install. It works perfect and I have had on my R1T for 6 months. You can use clear of matte. About $10 per small roll. Then the left over pieces I cut in 4” strips for my door thresholds.

My PPF installer said that the Rivian R1S template by XPEL had screen protectors for both the screen. So, both my screens have clear PPF protection. So far so good.

Does the abstract ocean protector come with an application frame?

It does not. It’s so thick you don’t really need one.

I used this exact kit on mine. It reduces glare some and fingerprints a lot. As soon as you open the kit you can tell it is really high quality. I would buy the same kit again.
