The seat-back is 5 bolts. 2 under outside most headrests, 3 on the bottom, behind the plastic cover that runs horizontally over the seatbelt receptacles. Careful removing and maybe use 2 people. The seat-back is heavy and the brackets will scratch your plastics.

Looks like the seat bottom is relatively simple to remove. Remove the cover under the seat, disconnect the connector. Then remove the hinge brackets on the cargo divider (TBD how the brackets come off).

I haven’t separated the connector yet while I try to understand what all the wires are for, there is obviously more going on here than simply a seat heater. I’m thinking some control wires for a temp sensor, occupancy sensor, ground, power for heater, and perhaps more.

Thanks for this. I keep wrestling with removing the seat.

I could really use the weight savings if I want some rock sliders and it’s not like I have the payload to haul rear seat passengers anyway ?

I’m hoping that someone that lives closer to an SC will do it. It’s a full day trip for me. ?

Ok guys first testing. No issues observed in a quick drive, only effect I could see is the below video, heated seat wouldn’t turn on.

All I did for this test is remove the cable connection on the 60 section of the seat. Will proceed with full removal when I have an afternoon to devote to the project.

Excellent! I’ve got family in town for the next few weeks so I need the back seat, after that I will revisit how to remove the lower hinge bracket covers. I cannot tell if they slide on or snap on. Under those covers appears to be a single bolt that attaches the seat hinge to the load compartment, should be a pretty easy mod once we figure that out.

I know this an old thread, but I'd like to offer a word of caution to anyone finding this. I attempted to remove the back portion of the rear seat on my new to me 2022 R1T. When removing one of the upper bolts, the capture nut that it threads into broke loose. This means the bolt is loose, with no way to tighten it or get it out. I have no idea if this is even fixable. I've jammed some washers in as shims until my service center appointment in 5!!! months.

I just had this happen on mine trying to remove today. Any updates from your side?

I'm afraid not. My washer shims seem to be holding pretty securely for now. I'll provide an update when I finally get it in for service.

I had both top bolts break the welds unfortunately. It didn’t even take that much force so it must not have been a very good weld. Further investigation looks like there are no access holes into that 3” by 3” channel so I guess I am going to be creating my own tomorrow.
Really don’t see any way around it even if I were to take it to the service center. Gotta love when a 5 minute job turns into a two day job ?. I’ll report back if/when I get it solved.

Got the seats removed yesterday following the broken weld incident on the top nuts securing the top of the seats. It was not an easy feat and if you’re squeamish please look away.
I ended up having to use a hole saw to gain access to the nut. Two holes on the first side and one on the other after seeing I needed more access. Still was not easy to get a wrench in the correct place but it was at least possible (17mm nut on 15mm bolt if you need to do the same). Thanks to an abundance of red loctite (no lie it was at least an inch of loctite on an inch and a half bolt) I had to use a torch to heat it up to get it to budge.
If you plan to remove the seats I would definitely invest in or borrow an induction bolt heater to avoid this whole fiasco.
