Costco has $80 off (4) Michelins coming for Black Friday. Expect other tire shops to have something similar. 286 a tire with free road hazard. 1144 before tax

Costco tends to be picky about load index and speed rating. They might not install a 115H tire.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 275/60/R20 XL 116H - $1285 out the door. 2 weeks ago.
I was waiting for the 116H & the 60/R20 fit my wants. It's 1/2-inch easier for my wife to get in.

I expect that by the time my new Michelins are old,
they'll have the OEM size & I can go back to 275/65/R20 XL 116 H.

if you don’t mind me asking, what was your total install price? I’m being quoted $1825 out the door. That’s for the Michelin Defender LTX MS2 115H
just under 1500$ w/o America tire warranty that would add up to your number. just back from Tahoe overniter so tardy.

Thank you. Paid exactly the same sans warranty.

As an FYI to all, I am loving the tires so far. Super smooth and quiet. All alignment and vibration issues I was having were definitely due to my wasted tires. Hard to compare to the OEM Pirellis when they were at their prime, but if these Michelin's had been the stock tires instead, I'd have had no issue especially if they do, in fact, last longer.

Seems like a justified concern. someone in one of the Michelin threads mentioned poor grip in rain. Living in SoCal I haven’t been able to test these in the wet yet, but my Pirellis didn’t have much grip last year when we had our heaviest rainfall year in a while.

I think if I was going to see snow or more rain I’d stick with one of the AT options. Or get a 2nd set of wheels with maybe the Toyos. But for this climate, I’m loving the smooth ride of the Michelins.
AT tires are generally rated poorly in rain, ie longer stopping distances, but depending on the sipes do better or the same as AS in snow. There is a misconception that AT means better in snow. It’s pretty variable by tire. LTXs have an excellent reputation for wet and snow. Many ATs have too many grooves and not enough siping for snow and wet conditions (think KO2s and Territory ATs). They’re usually fine but if you thought the tire was doing something it’s probably just confirmation bias. I’ve been on plenty of bald tires that did “ok” and had plenty of AS tires that were just fine on pretty difficult off road and winter conditions that your average “tourist” never sees. Tires are like wine. If you didn’t take a blind taste test you might think the Costco stuff cost the same as a $100 bottle under the right conditions.

Has anyone been able to find any snow to try these out on?

I need a good tire (22 wheel) to drive back and forth to the mountains as well as year round comfort. Highway driving mainly to the ski resorts. I am deciding between the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 and the Bridgestone Dueler AT unless you have any other suggestions. I am open to the idea of buying 20” wheels and doing dedicated snow tires. I would prefer not having no space in garage to keep an extra set of tires as well as the extra cost associated with.

Any advice is appreciated.

Suggest the Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast, looks like a near perfect fit for your needs:

Ohh interesting. I have not seen these before. Have you heard any feedback on this tire? I’m interested to see their ice/snow ratings. Thanks!

It’s near the top, TerrainContact edges it out, so either one would likely meet your requirements.

On my R1S today/ Ordered online at Americas Tire yesterday. Was straightforward except for my EV Sportline sliders . They had me show them lift points. My JackPucks helped a lot as their plastic pucks had no magnets. Smooth and quiet running is my first reaction.
Do you have any Steering vibration above 70 or 75 mph ? if you lift hands on steering wheel

Recent roundtrip Saratoga CA to/from Tahoe. No issue at those speeds

Costco tends to be picky about load index and speed rating. They might not install a 115H tire.
Sadly, I found a sidewall blister on my passenger rear tire. No scuff or scrape and neither my wife or myself recall hitting a potholes hard enough to damage the tire. The rim is clean without any scrape or scratches either.

After speaking with Rivian service, to which they said to bring the vehicle and the earliest appointment is 12/8/24, I decided to just replace it. In other words, no sense of urgency to help out disabled vehicle. To me, this is a different need than a trim or rattle fix.

So, I just cam back from buying a set of 4, 275/50/22 LTX M/S2 115H at Costco. I was hoping to have other Michelin options like CrossClimate or PilotSport A/S2 in size but to no avail. Perhaps the next time.

The reason I'm posting is to say that there was no issue at Costco ordering the tire in person for the 115H for the RiS. They'll get the tire this Friday (didn't have it in stock).

The OE Scorpion Zero A/S still has 35% tread life at 18k miles but I didn't want mismatched tires and did not want to buy one OE tire for half the price of new set of 4, especially when I don't like the tire itself.
