Hi everyone. This is my first post. Picked up a used El Cap Granite R1T Adventure package, Quad motor, and large battery pack here in Atlanta on Monday night. It has the 20" AT factory wheels and tires along with the (still currently working) power tonneau cover. I love it so far. I have the latest 2023.02.03 installed. I drove to and from work (33 miles each way) on Wednesday in All-Purpose mode. Did the same exact trip on Thursday in Conserve mode. Very similar weather and temps. No major elevation changes. Mix of 30% city and 70% rural 4-lane highway with average speeds of 50-60mph.

Here are my stats:
Both trips started with 85% charge at home. No preconditioning. Truck is in an attached garage while home. Climate set to Auto and 70 degrees.
20" factory AT Tires at 50 psi. Air temps 58-68 degrees. Same exact path and traffic both days. Same driving style and acceleration / braking inputs.

Wednesday - All Purpose mode. Auto suspension height with soft settings. Showed 248 miles of range at start Arrived at work with 213 miles left and 73% battery. Sat at work for 9 hours. Gear Guard off. Drove home and arrived with 176 miles and 60% battery left.

Thursday - Conserve mode. Auto suspension height with soft settings. Showed 273 miles of range at start. Arrived at work with 237 miles left and 74% battery. Sat at work for 9 hours. Gear Guard off. Drove home and arrived with 202 miles and 63% battery left.

Immediate impressions compared to my wife's 2022 Tesla Model 3 LR AWD with 19" Enkei TY-5 ultra-light wheels...Rivian is very thirsty for electrons, 500 watts per mile or 2-2.5 miles per KW. but provides MUCH more accurate range. We average about 250 watts per mile in the Tesla. About 4 miles per KW. Rivian is quieter and rides better. Rivian interior has much better fit & finish and is made of better materials. Rivian sound quality is better / clearer for mid's and high's, but Tesla sound system has better bass / low end. Tesla has Apple Music, which I love, really need that update in the R1T.

Thank you. Looks like my VIN is very close to yours. I would be interested in how your truck has been.

Ride will improve with little loss of range if you reduce your tire pressure by a couple of pounds. Just my .02.

Wait, you brought a brand new Rivian to work and you didn't spend a 2 hour lunch showing it off to inquisitive co-workers with 0-60 runs, suspension sideshows, and interior, frunk and bed tours?

Hi @Ktmsmr12 ... congrats on the new Rivian!

With the AT's and under the temps, speeds and type of road you commute on.. you should be averaging at or above 2mi/kWh which it seems you are. Under the new software the range estimates seem more accurate.. especially compared to Tesla's um.. rather "optimistic" range estimates ;)

I did show it to quite a few folks that were curious on Tuesday, but I didn't take them for any ride-alongs. The most asked question has been "who makes it?" I tell them "Rivian" and they say "yeah, I know, but who makes it." :)

I've had that question as well. I tell them it for sure isn't a tesla.

If you don't mind my asking, what did you pay for your R1T?

That's a reasonable price, especially since Rivian is spending about $220K to make them according to Entrepreneur.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. I read on

Just curious what do you normally run? I had a guy with a R1S tell me the same thing a few weeks ago while at a fast charger but I never gave it a try. I have mine set to the recommended 48 cold psi and I've seen it get up to around 50 after some driving.

Most of my use is around town so I wouldn't mind trading some efficiency for increased comfort. I can always just pump the air back up before a longer trip.

Another person with AT’s getting better range than I do on 21’s ?
I thought I was the only one experiencing this!! I swear I drive very conservative in both speed and acceleration, live in a fairly flat area and yet I average around 2.0 mi/kWh on long trips in AP. The only thing for me is that average temps have been 30s-40s. But I feel like I hear reports of everyone getting better efficiency than me even in those temps.

:sigh:

Idk, I have a loaner on 22s right now that the SC has set to 44psi and the consumption I'm getting on those is about 0.3 to 0.4 mi/kwh less (~1.5 cs ~1.8) than what I get with my 20s.
