The thinking was I'd buy it and then sell it shortly afterward. I know that reservations are not transferable.
There very well may be if you can snag a launch edition, depending on how many they make

I keep considering trading in my Gen 1 R1S for a R2. My main reason is because I do not need a 3 row SUV.
Definitely getting an R2, not sure if we'll keep our T as well. The R2 fits our needs better but I like having a truck too.

R2 reservations are not transferrable. Best you can do is to get your money back.
That’s only partially true….you can buy and then sell at a high price immediately so long as the market allows for it and it’s worth the PITA to do it….

I will likely keep holding out until some SUV/Truck comes out with mileage closer to 500 and then switch to that. Or if I start getting hit with expensive out of warranty maintenance on the R1T which will be possible later this year.

Aside from perhaps autonomy, it would be a step down in capability at an additional cost. (And not the pickup I need.)

Have the rez in case my wife or a family member wants to make the jump, but it looks like no takers at this point.
Similar situation here; I'm not sure I'm ready to give up truck features, and that amazing air suspension, but the operable rear window convinced me to put in a day 2 reservation. I won't be purchasing it sight unseen because I'm already driving a truck I love, but it's compelling enough that I will test drive it when they have R2s in the showroom.

We're almost certainly going to follow through with our R2 reservation. It's still an open question as to whether or not it replaces the R1T or is in addition to it.

Our vehicle use cases have changed dramatically over the past couple of years, and a more efficient vehicle is likely a better fit than a pickup truck.

Not sure. Depends on ICE van trade vs R1T trade. My guess is they will lowball Gen1 trades. If Agent Orange continues… used electrics might be good to sell.

Who knows. You can wake up any morning and have the world turned upside down if some guy is in a bad mood.

Can’t decide if I care that autonomy is dead on Gen1 R1T. Also starting to be concerned with extending warranty on 3.5 yr old R1T.

That was the plan when I made the reservation, but seeing them go down the same path they did with the Gen 1 R1 I have no interest in being the one left holding the bag again with this half-baked in between 2026 R2. Once they do the gen 2 "re-launch edition" like they did with R1 in 27 or 28, with the autonomy chip and lidar and fixed door handles and whatever else isn't fully baked yet I'll definitely reconsider because the R1 is too big for the city and I don't actually use the air suspension but once or twice a year.

I'll be trading for R2 or maybe R3(?) once my lease is up, it's nice to have all the interior space in the R1 but I don't need the third row.

I'm considering trading my lease in while I still have some trade in equity left in it from my Gen 1 > Gen 2 switch. Going to go to the local road show and decide if I can handle the reduction in size, but I think it might be perfect for me. For me, it's also dependent on their ADAS development. If they're still trying to ram me into medians 1-2 years from now, I won't be buying another Rivian.

I drive my MY more than my R1S around town since I don't want to drive around town. So nice and relaxing to decompress from work while it drives me to lunch.

Also, this Gen1-er is thinking of an R2 lease.

I suffer from Gen1 ADAS Abandonment Syndrome- G1AAS

I'm getting the r2 but I am keeping the r1s though. I need a commuter car and I'll keep the r1s as a a family adventure car at home.

Might be more common with R1S owners, not T's. Especially if one doesn't need that third row/space.
