Silver hides dirt the best regardless of brand. That's the main reason that I've owned more Silver than any other color over my lifetime (no garage). Solid black is easily the worst. My launch green hides dirt well + half moon grey as two colors only slightly worse than Silver.
That is disappointing to read, as I had planned to request the service history for my Gen 1 (purchased used), since another forum poster stated that Rivian would provide the lifetime service history. I wanted to factor the list length into my decision on whether to keep my R1T or move to the R2...
Were you aware that Rivian started selling launch editions again in Jul'25, just for Gen2 quads, just in two colors, Storm Blue and Launch Green? I don't have direct evidence of the VIN decisions, but I suspect the VIN numbers for these were mixed up with the Gen 2 duals and Tris rolling off the...
I suggest calling your local service center, if your dealer is close to one, and ask them if they will do an inspection. If so, schedule an inspection on your test drive. Once you're the owner, you can pull the entire service history, but I suspect there are privacy concerns about releasing this...
I'd call them and ask about the driving safety question. You don't want to give them a cause not to warranty it. Rivian SC has been top-notch for me, but it's best to be safe. You might learn a bit more by putting it into service mode; I haven't viewed that screen in a while, but it probably...
way too early to even consider it, maybe someday when they are raking in profits. I'm expecting that, between their ambitious autonomy goals, releasing the R3, and opening their Atlanta plant to ramp up production, they won't consider R2 variants. The added inventory of R1S deals, as more exit...
I have a Galaxy phone with a MagSafe case, so I can use one of my three dash mounts; I have a far left, a far right, and one next to the center screen, but only the left one has Qi charging. EV Sportline, EveryAmp, TWraps, and Abstract Ocean all make mounts on/around the dash.
Most days I use...
Forest Edge is my all-time favorite interior, but I'm not a fan of white headliners with two dogs in tow on most trips. I'd prefer the original green, a beige or black headliner with the Forest Edge pleather + brown or natural wood stain.
I'm sorry to hear about your sour experience with your R1 and finding yourself on the hook for repairs. There are well-known issues with the R1 lineup, as most of us expected from a first/second vehicle that has only been making them this decade; I just had to order two new 12V batteries last...
Wow, just wow; that is quite the list. I wish you the best in your search for the vehicle that meets your long list of needs...
The silver lining of your decision is that we all move up the waitlist one spot; thanks for the bump up!
I'm one of the R1 owners who hasn't received an invite, likely because I used a different email address for my R2 reservation, and the system doesn't recognize me as an R1 owner. Rivian said they can't reassign it. I love my truck so much that I'm not sure I'm ready to give it up for anything on...
Something was likely keeping it on or kept waking it up; my Gen1 quad large R1T loses about 1% per day under normal operation and even less when I force it to stay asleep with camp mode. There are lots of causes, many of which others have mentioned, like gear guard, proximity unlocking/phone...
I haven't heard of someone pulling into someone else's driveway to charge their EV, basically risking theft and getting messed up to steal $20 of juice over several hours. Are you in a condo complex where the garage is far away from your unit and completely out of sight? Lots of suggestions have...
I share your disappointment in that the majority of reviewers use the MY as their baseline comparison vehicle, but I do understand their choice. The challenge for any reviewer is that there is no equal to the R2; maybe the scout will be closer if it ever releases. For reviewers, you first need...
The R2 is easily the most anticipated EV release of 2026, and it's unreasonable to expect Rivian to offer best-in-class financing deals. If finances are driving your decision, why would you lease anything? If your main goal is to save money, purchase a lightly used Tesla; there are lots of deep...
I agree with your overall assumption that the R2 is a better financial choice and better value Rivian for a lot of us, but respectfully, it is not a better vehicle than the R1! Some of your points are not yet verified by anyone, nor could they be verified, and some are clearly false as any R1...
There's already a poll created on this question, but I say Launch Green every day, even on Sundays. All we need is Forest Green interiors to make it perfect.

I doubt that the alignment or lane tracking has anything to do with Gen1 vs. Gen2; it seems to vary by vehicle for both Gens. Some users have reported that repeated alignments didn't resolve their concerns, while others, like me, get perfect tracking over the life of their Gen1.
It has been...
Thanks for sharing the photos; it's great to see what's inside that cavity. I could see an opportunity for either a split back panel, hinged above the Rivian logo, or a grooved vertical track to slide the top part down like a sleuth gate. While you could use some nice stained plywood, getting a...
I agree with @electruck. Based on reporting from a year or so ago, they had to take down some R1 production lines to make room for the new R2 production line, and that should trigger some R1 production impacts. They were probably planning for less R1 production anyway, as the R2 takes potential...
