Whenever I'm trying to back into my driveway, which is a tight squeeze, the R1T automatically switches to the "Rear View", which is just a 4K closeup of my hitch ball. This is a useful view when trying to hook up my trailer, but the other 99.9% of the time, I actually want a back up camera so I'm not crashing into said trailer, or our other cars. If I have to alternate between forward and reverse to manuever, it always switches back the trailer hitch view. I just want to lock on "Bed Camera", but I can't for the life of me find the settings in the menus. TIA.

The only thing I can think of that makes the bed view default is is having the tailgate down.

Are you trying to get a new from the bed cam when reversing with the trailer hitched already? If so, I ended up installing a camera on the back of my trailer with its own screen. Does wonders.

I think that would be break some safety regs -- on account that a kid on their tricycle might be hiding behind the tailgate (hitch ball or not).

It is legally required to show the entire area that can be contacted by the bumper/body/tires.

Not possible. Regulations say you need to show the space behind the bumper.
