I’ve taken the truck in 2 times for hood flutter, they fixed a few parts of the equation but I finally borrowed a go pro so I could show them what I see while driving and it worked well

these videos were from a borrowed go pro, I have no experience with the app so I did a screen record then used that to send to the service center which is why they are the way they are.

the corner isn’t the only part that lifts but this angle and zoom makes it easier to understand, I think it’s caused by body panel alignment allowing air under the hood or between the hood and fender, we’ll see what they determine when it goes into service Wednesday

anyone else been trying to resolve this issue?

Yep, service has tried to fix mine 3 times, and it still flutters. The center near the badge also indents when going 70+. I live right by the toll road where the speed limit is 80 so I get to deal with it every day.

Yep - They were able to fix mine on the passenger side, but it still has flutter on the drivers side. Fix has been attempted 3 times. I just add it to the ticket every time I take it in.

yeah mine used to dent much larger than it currently does, they actually re glued the skin to the frame the first time, then I realized the whole hood was fluttering.

My thinking is, the better understanding the technician gets of the complaint the better chance they have to find the source of the problem.

If they can't fix it, oh well, I tried.

I believe the redesigned the hood and latching mechanism, and thats the only REAL fix. I have kinda gotten used to it, but its really the one thing about the truck that I really dislike and would call a problem.

This was one of the reasons I sold my LE R1T. Too bad, good looking truck, good size, good speed, but terrible service.

My Rivian ownership was the kind you read about when you are on forums like these and hope it wont happen to you. After all the vehicles I have bought in my life the Rivian was my one truly bad experience.

As a proponent of EVs I want Rivian to do well. I also appreciate the design of the vehicles. For those reasons I came back to the forums to see what the word was on the Gen2s. If service was being reported as improved and the new gen2s didn't have many teething issues I would strongly consider getting another. Unfortunately the early word doesn't look promising.

One could argue about only people with problems post, or it is too early to form an opinion, and there is validity to that, to some extent. But once bitten, twice shy.

I'm still reading about issues that I had two years ago still not getting fixed.

For those curious, the last straw for me was when Rivian came to pick up the truck to take it to the nearest SC (which is 4hrs one way) and told me they would pay to pick it up but charge me to have it brought back as it would be considered fixed at that point. Having no other options at that point (mobile had been out twice to attempt a fix) I sent it off to the SC. Guess what...truck came back, hood issue was just as bad.

That isn't going to fly for a lot of folks. I'm fortunate to have the income to absorb this type of thing and keep rolling, but not everyone is in that boat. Imho they better slow down the expansion and get their service together or it will come back to bite them.

I'll continue to lurk and hope they can greatly improve what I think is still a problem for them.

I've got the same problem on the driver's side. i don't think it's fixable short of replacing the hood latch system and completely re-aligning the hood. Initially reported but then decided, i can live with it.

it happens when i drive above 80-85 mph so i figure this is a subconscious way to control my speed :)

I've had the same issue since day #1 of ownership almost 2 years ago. I have a SC service appointment next Friday to address this and several other issues that have been lingering for the last year.

Thanks. Still fairly "early-ish". Mine is 19xxx. I haven't seen much issue with flutter, but definitely something I'm keeping an eye on. I did adjust the levelers slightly to make the hood "more even" (to my eye).

I have an interesting perspective on this. My March 23 built R1T has a lot of flexing at high speeds. Especially when passing semi trucks or when it's really windy outside. When I'm wiping it with a microfiber towel sometimes it flexes in on my but doesn't dent.

Wife's April 24 built R1S has no such flexing in the hood. I haven't asked service to address it as yet

FWIW the original hood on my 2022 R1S was solid as a rock but the replacement, after an accident, is not. It has a lot more flex in the panel itself, but it doesn't move like yours does in the video.

Interesting. My 22 T does not 'flutter' like that but the middle-ish morphs around like Rorschachs face, at highway speeds.

I have not noticed on my 24 S. Gonna have to take a look now...
