Hood flutter w video

I have an interesting perspective on this. My March 23 built R1T has a lot of flexing at high speeds. Especially when passing semi trucks or when it's really windy outside. When I'm wiping it with a microfiber towel sometimes it flexes in on my but doesn't dent.

Wife's April 24 built R1S has no such flexing in the hood. I haven't asked service to address it as yet

Got the same problem, but only in the middle. Edges are fine

I think there's several issues
1: if your hood detents in the middle, the panel bond adhesive has let go and needs to be reapplied from the hood skin to the frame under the beauty panel
2: if your hood wobbles from head wind, cross wind, or over 80mph, then not sure the source but assuming mis-alignment between hood, fender, bumper, and or, some other failure that's harder to figure out.

I have another video showing the very small detents that occur after the panel bond was fixed, but while the hood flutters, but, it's hard to see so I didn't post it.

I’ve tried, but I fail to understand the concern. What exactly is the issue with some flutter?

Try closing that hood without the power operation. It's a very light hood! I was surprised how light it was ...I only know because a loaner we had was broken so it wouldn't shut itself.

Yep, service has tried to fix mine 3 times, and it still flutters. The center near the badge also indents when going 70+. I live right by the toll road where the speed limit is 80 so I get to deal with it every day.

Same here. Said they fixed it multiple times still does it. And the ruined my hood alignment on the last service visit.

Nothing compared to how my wrangler would flutter... I would say it's probably annoying. I haven't seen it on mine.

I’ve had this issue since delivery and they have attempted twice to fix this. Now I am told there is some hood compound that needs to be applied but I don’t know what that is. Regardless they say they can’t source it. Has anyone had a repair with this hood compound and can you show what it is? I mean it’s obvious it’s happening, why can’t they have a fix by now. Where is the wind actually getting in to lift it? Mine has alway been the drivers side that I notice lifting.

I was going to ask the same thing. Wanted to know if this is still an issue on Gen 2 R1T and R1S.

The wind is getting in under the hood due to the hood panel misalignment, on almost every Rivian the driver side hood is about 1/4 inch higher than the passenger side. Check it with your fingers right above the headlights you'll feel it. I've tried adjusting a few times but can never get the front corner to close as tight as the passenger side. Seems like a design defect of the latching mechanism.

On my 2016 tacoma the hood seperated from the structural component because the glue failed.

I bought 2 part panel bond and fixed it myself after 3 failed attempts at the toyota dealership. I have thought about this for the Rivian but I haven't taken the hood cover off to inspect (it was easier to see on the tacoma b/c there was no cover)

Gen II uses the same hood as Gen I.

Yall got me curious, and confirmed they don’t know what they’re doing with the adhesive they used some kind of foam that won’t hold the panels together at all. I’ll be redoing the adhesive between the skin and the support structure that won’t stop the entire hood from raising in the wind but it’ll stop the detents formed at speed

FWIW the original hood on my 2022 R1S was solid as a rock but the replacement, after an accident, is not. It has a lot more flex in the panel itself, but it doesn't move like yours does in the video.

I think this is the most normal response from the Count I've seen here... Are you sick?
