I am hearing a groaning sound whenever the R1S kneels (which makes me feel like a kindred spirit because there is also a groaning sound when I kneel but I am old and the RIS is new so…) is this typical? It is not super loud but is sounds like a creaking door.

Opal (our R1T) made a noise when when she went into "kneeling mode", but it was was not so much a groan as it was a creeking sound. Since we got the the running boards, we turned off her "kneeling mode".

Yes, it’s normal, especially when you are sittting still. The brakes are applied. There is a slight geometry change as the height changes. You are hearing the tension of that geometry change. If you tap the accelerator or creep while changing height, which releases the brakes and that tension, the noise stops.

I turned kneel function off. figured all that noise and movement had to be wearing something out prematurely. also don't use auto height mode anymore since lots of posts on this site indicate accelerated tire wear from lower position.
