  1. Tesla Model Y price slashing again, and the future of RIVN

BTW, the Tesla transaction was and fast and simple, including trade in and delivery. Best part was the $7500 tax credit was processed by Tesla delivery team and applied at point of sale.
  2. Tesla Model Y price slashing again, and the future of RIVN

I was an early EV adopter. A new 2014 Model S "60" with 200 miles of range. Elon punished me, and others, by bringing out the "75" a few months later at the same price as my 60 killing the value in my 60. In 2018 I traded the S for a new Model 3. My wife loved the smaller car and so did I...
  3. Any problems with Lectron Adapter?

I had the same experience with Lectron. Over heating. Red light on Rivian charging port that would cycle then charge but wall unit overheating. Worried I was going to fry charge port. Trashed Lectron and spent the money on a Tesla Tap. Charging at 48 amps and cool to the touch.
  4. navigation system the worst there is.

I don't know about worst, but not very good and can result in running out of range. I simply do not trust it. On a trip down I-5 to Seattle, it told me to turn off the freeway and then after I did, it routed me back on. Then a few weeks ago on a trip down I-5 It told me to charge in Chehalis...
  5. Vancouver charging infrastructure

BC Hydro chargers are about the fastest but they are usually 60-100kW. Chargepoint is accepted by BC Hydro chargers. Otherwise most of the thousands of chargers that the government brags about are just level 2.
  6. Groaning When Kneeling

I turned kneel function off. figured all that noise and movement had to be wearing something out prematurely. also don't use auto height mode anymore since lots of posts on this site indicate accelerated tire wear from lower position.
  7. Washington FS 21" Spare wheels and tires - 2500 miles

Where in WA? I am in Blaine and interested.
  8. Tire Rotation and Balancing -- Discount Tire is Rivian's preferred tire shop (just confirm they have jack pucks)

My Discount tire in Bellingham WA is free. But I have been a regular customer and purchased 4 sets of tires over the years.
  9. Current Rivian owners - What’s one change that would make you happier?

    1. Get rid of the clunky, heavy extended tailgate and replace with a 2 way tailgate like the Ridgeline. 2. get rid of the small unnecessary storage area under the back seat and have the seats fold (again like the Ridgeline) to have a useful open area for cargo (or dogs).
  10. Remotely view live video from vehicle?

You can deactivate the location function in the vehicle settings. Except it doesn’t actually work and the app can still see the R’s location.
  11. GPS nav glitch?

Just returned from a trip to Vancouver Island. Took the ferry. In both directions the nav got lost. While in the ferry it lost connection. When exiting the ferry it thought that I was still at the loading dock On the other side. It took 15 minutes of driving each way to get found. If I...
  12. 1,793 mile one way road trip in R1T -- from Phoenix to northwest Washington + packing 800lbs

Average speed on the flats was probably 70-75. Hill climbs were 60-65 slower on some of those mountain curves in southern Oregon. Re: I-10. Remember I am traveling to and from Phoenix, not Palm Springs. After years of fighting I-10 from the LA end of the Grapevine through to PS and beyond to...
  13. Completed wonderful 2 Week R1T Road Trip: WA-OR-CA

MY bad, it does not reduce your range. It reduces your fuel efficiency number, but not your actual efficiency.
  14. Traveling to Vancouver, need tips on charging

Actually there is some logic to the time base billing as it gets the 85% - 100% slow chargers off the plug! This morning I checked my Chargepoint account and I was charged $1.93 (probably US$ as I am a US account) for 12KWh which is $0.16/kWh! Way cheaper than EA or Tesla or Chargepoint in...
  15. Completed wonderful 2 Week R1T Road Trip: WA-OR-CA

Yup, I have noticed that. sitting with the power on (I can't figure out how to turn it off without exiting the truck) reduces your range significantly.
  16. Traveling to Vancouver, need tips on charging

I travelled from Blaine Washington to BC ferry terminal in Tsawassen today. Then took the ferry to Duke Point Terminal, Nanaimo then driving to Duncan. Vancouver Island and Vancouver seem to have loads of level 2 6kw chargers. I did find a BC Hydro charger in Duncan @ 100kw. I had lots of...
  17. 1,793 mile one way road trip in R1T -- from Phoenix to northwest Washington + packing 800lbs

Not totally secure, but weatherproof and gonna discourge the casual opportunistic thief. Having the cargo bars makes it almost impossible to get a bin out when you have the bed full with 2 L patterns. Plus bins are about $14 each, cables about $14 each, and locks maybe $5 each in bulk. I am...
  18. 1,793 mile one way road trip in R1T -- from Phoenix to northwest Washington + packing 800lbs

OK, I did not do the full set up, but enough to illustrate what we did. 1st pic is 7' bike cable I bought a 2 pack from Amazon in case I stacked the bins and need more cable. The other cable is the Gear Guard cable which I used on the Yetis, but I could have used 2 bike cables. The padlocks...
