If you got the estimated date for a Rivian, could you share the per order month and year, Configuration, and what the current estimate is? It could help others (like me) to figure out what changes to our configuration could do to our delivery dates.

I preordered Nov 2020, R1T, Adventure package, Max pack (for the purposes of the delivery estimate, has since been changed), Estimated delivery 1st half 2023.

It's the Max Pack delaying your delivery. Period. See this Delaware order from the linked spreadsheet.

Be glad you are not somewhere farther South. We getting sc^#^wed on our delivery dates down here, but likely partially due to the ICE new car dealerships that control chunks of the legislatures. Some states have passed anti-sell -cars-directly-to-customer laws in an effort to hinder Rivian, Tesla and Lucid. Hell, Carvana had its license to sell cars yanked in the Raleigh area earlier this year.

For those in Pennsylvania, at this time Rivian cannot legally deliver vehicles in Pennsylvania. Only Telsa has that permission, based on an exception to direct sales they were granted years ago. There is a active bill House Bill 1907 to expand direct sales to all manufacturers. Referred to committee, as best I can tell, there has been no recent action on it.

Edit: Link to the Chairmen of the committee. Now that we have delivery windows, I'm going to write to both of them. The page says "No Scheduled Meetings at this time." Perhaps waiting for 2022 session to start before creating schedules, but these paid public servants need to get on this!

I'm writing to you regarding a bill that has been referred to your committee. House Bill 1907 provides for all Electric Vehicles (EV) manufacturers to perform direct sales in Pennsylvania. Currently, Tesla is provided with an unfair business advantage, being the only permitted EV direct sales manufacturer in Pennsylvania. Rivian Automotive is ramping up production and recently provided customers a delivery window starting as early as March 2022. The residents of Pennsylvania need HB 1907 to move forward as quickly as possible, providing fair competition to manufacturers and equal access to all EVs.

For many years, almost all new automobiles in Pennsylvania have been sold through dealer networks supplied by respective automobile manufacturers. Some electric vehicle manufactures, such as Tesla, instead sell directly to the public. As you may recall, the General Assembly passed Act 125 of 2014 to allow Tesla Motors to sell their electric vehicles directly to the public.
There are other electric vehicle manufacturers with similar direct-to-customer sales models, but Act 125 is so narrowly tailored that it prevents any other electric vehicle manufacturer from selling directly to customers in Pennsylvania. In my view, this is fundamentally unfair. Pennsylvania law should not make it difficult for people to purchase an electric vehicle.

With this in mind, I will introduce legislation that expands on Act 125 to permit other electric vehicle manufactures to market vehicles directly to the public. This proposal is very similar to House Bill 1901 from last session. If enacted, this proposal will make more electric vehicles more accessible to more potential owners in Pennsylvania.

Actually I am in NJ, just over the bridge from Philly. I have not seen that NJ restricts direct sales. As a matter of fact I *think* that I can get a grant towards a Rivian if its GVW pushes it into a class 2b vehicle, and I buy it through my business. I am really hopeful that is the case, but also a point of concern. I was pretty sure the large pack got me over the 8500 lb GVW, but I KNOW that the Max pack would have. I am trying to get the CS at Rivian to confirm what the R1T with the large pack GVW is. If it won't I may just bite the bullet and wait, ~30K of free money is too much to pass up.

Messages sent to both chairmen - I would hope by 2023, when I’m guessing my order will arrive, this will be old news. In the meantime hopefully it helps the earlier deliveries.
