The Tri is also a lot more rear bias than the Gen 1 quad. This will account for some of the improved 0-60 and will make it all around better for performance but as you get to higher speeds where traction is no longer the limiting factor this will no longer make much of a difference. I’m still hoping the Gen 2 quad gets launched first thing in q2 but now I’m realizing that is April fools day and a bad day for any launch.

Anyone want to change their answer? I am still hopefull for May and fingers crossed that they will have some type of good trade in deal for current Rivian owners.

RJ did show them producing the motors recently. I'd be surprised if the vehicles weren't in production in the next few weeks, starting with vehicles hitting the shop and accepting custom orders later.

Not trying to be facetious, but genuinely curious why you think that Rivian would have some trade in incentive for existing owners?

After all, they already have your money and a LOT of quad owners already had a big early adopter discount?

I mean I would love it if they rewarded the early adopters/ Beta testers, but I am having a hard time seeing the advantage for Rivian?

I was really entertaining the thought of a new quad. My wife stopped complaining about my R1T encroaching in her parking area and I thought I could swap it out without her noticing for a new one since I run it through my business anyway. I'd just have to swap the current wheels and tires over and get the same color.

My battle with the wind noise on mine has really made me rethink buying another Rivian. I'd be livid if I sold mine, added another $50k, and still had wind noise issues. I've driven G2 trucks and it still seems to be an issue. Given the additional speed capability, there is an even greater chance I'd be driving it over the 75 mph airspeed limit, where it becomes very problematic. When I stopped by the service center to see if there is any fix on their end, they just referred to their fallback issue of the triangle window issue, and that they pretty much all do it to some extent. That is a Teslaesque answer (i.e. it is bad, but since they all do it, it is within spec).

Very hard to successfully pursue a lemon law buyback over NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). This is somewhat subjective. While Rivian may have some internal metrics regarding sound levels, I haven't seen anything public so hard to build a case. I know this very well as I worked for a large manufacturer across from consumers with these types of complaints (and others). So I'd hate to have a super quick, fairly fast, shiny new $120k G2 R1T quad that every time the airspeed exceeds 75 mph would drive me crazy with its wind buffeting.

Then there is the longer I've been in the Ecosystem the more accessories and build out of my truck I've done and in the process of doing. Not sure if everything would move over from the G1 to G2.

I can't wait for it to finally hit and take a drive or two but I'll probably wait on the sidelines for a bit and see how they hold up. Will they have the half shaft issues the G1's have? What other issues might pop up? I am more tolerant of them on a 60k truck than one double that price.

Q1 they were running 6K off of the Tri just for putting in a trade in valuation, Currently they are running a $3k promo for trade ins and I think something on top of that for Tesla owners. Im just being optimistic
