First time helping a stuck driver

Today, I took the risk of helping a Hummer get out of a snow mound. I helped since I saw them avoiding rear ending another car that suddenly stopped. traffic was barely going 15 mph.

Since I was behind him I gave them some time and space to try to reverse out, but he could not. When I asked him if he wanted me to help, he said he did not want to damage my pickup with the weight of his hummer. I told him, I had not done this, but was confident I could handle the weight of his truck.

it took a few tries, since he had dug his front wheels, but I got him out. He wanted to pay me. I said, no worries I needed to try sooner or later. Haha

It was only an h3. This is a pic after I helped him. He was almost on the service pole to the right.

I was all excited thinking I would get to use something from my three year old Riv recovery kit. He had an old strap(not static rope), so we went with that. Haha

I would not charge anyone, unless I need to help digging. And even then, most likely not. Otherwise why offer to help.

The car in front of him stopped half way as they were turning left, and no other cars were on the other road. He tried to not hit them and veered to the right. The more I think about it, we were barely going 10 mph. There is a stop sign and the other road tends to be busy. Sure he could have been a little more cautious, further back, like I was to him. But, I am not judging.

I got to USE my T to help someone. He was going to wait for 30+ minutes for help, a friend.

Comprises of a modified GMT829 truck platform, parts from the front of the 3/4 -ton 2500 series trucks and rear of the 1/2-ton 1500 series trucks. 13 MPG at best and a sales failure. GM had agreement to sell the brand to one of the Chinese companies but the deal eventually fell apart.

Based on the photos, license plate placement, and the fender flares, it looks like a Hummer H3 to me. According to Google, the GVW is 6,000 lbs.

i attached a rope he had to my front hooks, which I’d rather not, but it worked out.

He asked me who makes the truck and I proudly told him, Rivian, from Normal, IL!!

some say you could buy similar parts for a lower price. I bought the kit to make sure I could be “saved”, due to the weight of our vehicles.

Good on you! My funniest / best save was a UPS truck stuck in the mud on a snowy day after they ran off the road. I yanked 'em out with a Subaru STi on all-season tires. Needless to say, they were impressed.
