I dropped off my truck today to get the powered tonneau fix and a couple of squeaks fixed.
They are bringing in folks from corporate tech labs to help accelerate clearing out service center backlog. According to Kevin (a rotating corp tech) @ the SSF SC, the plan is deliberate and effective, significantly accelerating the service process.
So, there is hope - I’ve also been frustrated by the speed of getting a non-critical appointment, but that appears to be changing.
A few notes on the visit:
- They will be changing my tire SW config from 21 to 20” for free. Perhaps this is due to my truck being in for other issues, but still - a nice surprise.
- They pulled the parts for my PTC fix! When I get my truck back, I will be taking open/close/open/close/open/close videos. Maybe I’ll sit on it while closing, like a kid on a luggage conveyor.
- If you have hood flutter, they will address it. Apparently those in the 4-6000 VIN range were the most problematic. But mine exhibits the behavior and they will fix it. (VIN is 12000 range)
- I thought I had wind noise, but I am driving a loaner that is way, way louder than my truck, so I think I have a solid build and need to stop complaining. The loaner is a Launch Edition and early VIN.
- They are ramping up S deliveries like crazy. The lot must have been 95% R1S. It was nuts.
Lastly - the loaner I have is on 2023.6.x (I do not know why it’s so far behind). The difference in functionality and maturity cannot be overstated. 2023.42, and I presume .46, are vastly superior. This includes suspension - I much prefer the newer SW builds over the old versions.
