I went to look at different colors in the configurator (R1S LE white/forest edge/22") and went by the rules I was told by customer care (excellent folks there!) that as long as I don't change the package or hit save that I wouldn't lose my launch edition configuration. Well, that wasn't *entirely* accurate. I switched to the R1T (still on the fence) and next thing you know it says "launch edition full". Full stop. Holy s&^t. Call customer care and they confirm that they don't see any configuration for me currently. I never hit save, I never selected a different package. The very helpful rep says that she sees my configuration confirmation previously though and will pass my case up the ladder. I'm hoping my earlier configuration will be restored otherwise my 4 year old who asks to watch Rivian videos on YouTube after school each day is gonna have my hide....

I was cautious. I followed the rules as I understood them. I never hit save or changed a package.....as of now I've lost my Launch Edition package and I'm really disappointed. Partly in myself but partly with Rivian for having this wonky system. How about "are you sure?" confirmation....this configurator is absolutely NOT consumer proof.

So tread lightly, fellow adventurers.

I hope Rivian does the right thing and restore my configuration and Launch Edition reservation.

I wouldn’t panic. I expect they will fix this.

I am really sorry that happened to you but if you read this note right here, it states, "You will be able to switch your Launch Edition between the R1T and the R1S in the future - we'll make this feature available soon."

I know this feels like a bummer, but I sure would consider an R1T vs an R1S a "package" change.

I think they'll take care of you. I couldn't sign on launch week (they kept trying to fix it, but couldn't that week. They say I'll get a launch edition. Hasn't happened yet, but I'm confident they'll take care of us.

For something they promised for so long though... the configurator is kindergarten level. Compare it to the Mercedes configurator here. Day and night difference.

I chose the GLS SUV and clicked "Build". (Not buying one... just looking at their configurator)

Yeah. That is what I just said....and that is what Rivian warned us all NOT to do...
I was told that I could change anything other than to the adventure or explore package and it wouldn’t affect it.

By whom?
There is a prominent warning when you go to change your configuration:
Rivian R1T R1S CAUTION! I just lost my Launch Edition. 1607375465555

You had to select an option different than an "Update" and that option is listed the same way as a cancellation.
I'm sure they will make it right, but most will think the mistake was on your part, not Rivians. Not a criticism as we all s***w up sometimes.
I agree the wording seems contradictory, but the LE has different restrictions.

The original warning did specifically say not to switch between R1S and R1T. For some reason, that was removed when they added the line saying you will be able to switch between models in the future. If you want to browse options without affecting your current build, you are better off using the public configurator without logging in. That way your configuration is guaranteed safe.

Bingo. I've been overly cautious with my LE config, so I just use the public one for tinkering.

@Chunk I do think they'll take care of you though.

I do the same. Not touching my real one until I absolutely have to. Public one works fine for playing with options.

I agree to use the public one, but if you have the launch green you cannot tinker with wheel choices for that color.on the public side. Right
now, not touching my config except when checking for new content.

I'm guessing they will send us email notifications when new content/accessories are available.

I'm definitely interested in dark wheel option(s) on the Launch Edition reservation that I have. I sure don't want to muck it up. Guess I'll wait until Rivian makes it absolutely rock-solid and certain that LE holders can modify options/accessories without sacrificing their LE reservation.
