Second bike, a 29".
Cheap extender from AmazonI have the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 mounted on the R1S hitch. The inside bike hits the liftgate before it can be securely clamped down. The bike is a small 27.5" with a relatively narrow handlebar width.
What am I doing wrong?
The Kuat pivot was actually a better option for me. I ended up purchasing one after getting the extender. Having a truck and mountain biking I wanted to be able to access my tailgate with my bike on the rack. Btw I having a 1upUSA super duty single and 1 add on rack.
For sure. Rivian’s receivers are tucked way under the bumper to be part of the frame and support the high tow ratings. For towing I’d gotten a Gen-Y offset drop which serves as an extender but is primarily to give us other height options based on which trailer we’re towing. It also worked to use our Thule T2Pro without fear of being too close to the tailgate (R1T). We still can’t drop the tailgate (too long). But at least the bike carrier when folded up for transport without bikes isn’t within 0.5” of the gate. Lots more clearance.
