Since last update my navigation has been saying no range (critically low battery) but my actual range is fine. So I drive and it comes right immediately once I get in the road.
Immediately after you start driving it comes on or off?

What does it mean to “take excellent care of battery”? I thought as an EV there isn’t really much to take care of with this vehicle. It’s not like it needs oil changes.
Exactly what R.I.P. stated

As others said the Nav is really bad to terrible. I just did a 1,000 mile trip and the miles between stops was accurate but how much battery it thought I would have when arriving at a charger was always way off when I input the next stop. I got this warning a lot then would get to the charger with 30 miles of range left. It would also keep trying to take me to out of the way chargers while I was in route to a charger.

Also more than a few times the Nav would say traffic when there was zero other vehicles on the road. So if you know you can make it distance in google maps vs range left of battery you will probably make it just fine.
When did the message appear in that 1000 trip...as you were getting close to your destination or right away?

Neary every time I put in a destination I would remove the charger the Nav would add to the route. Then it would tell me I couldn't make it and show that warning. I'm like you I take care of the battery but on a long drive it should be able to drive over 200 miles without going to a charger as it wanted to do.

With this warning as I would drive it would realize it would make it without the battery being critically low.

As this was just an 11 mile drive but it says 5 hours I think something was stuck in the Nav that was incorrect about the route. The Nav is garbage nearly every time I use it so I don't trust it.

So it's safe to assume this is a navigation bug, not a battery pack issue?

Yep. And leave it plugged in when you can, especially in extreme temps.
What does this do? I thought there was a whole other thread on how Rivians aren't able to condition the battery, heat the cabin, etc by using wall power?

All modern BMSs have the ability to keep the packs within safe operating temperature during extreme weather. Most are more active when they have access to grid power.

The notice only comes on the navigation screen (not driver cluster) and only when you first put in directions. Once you start driving the mileage corrects in the navigation.

I've been meaning to ask this exact question as search here and Reddit showed no one else ask it. It's happened twice to me now across 2 updates. For me it occurred when I had sent an address from my phone and then someone sat in the car for a while but never hit start. This has led me to believe it's a software bug where the value is erased or not read correctly and this warning occurs.

Both times car was fine, exit nav and put the same address back in and gives correct info with no warning. Causes one hell of a panic reading the warning though.

But you didn’t say whether or not the Rivian BMS has that ability. Do you actually know whether or not it does?

If it has that capability, would you care to elaborate on how it works? Settings required? Thresholds?

I have not personally seen Rivian's code. However, if it does not provide this functionality, then it is archaic and places the battery in danger.

I always think of it this way - a warning on center screen, nothing is too important. Info on driver screen, take it serious. People are all worried about motor temps now too since the last update. Just remember if it doesn’t warn you on the driver screen then everything is probably okay.
