  1. A Shot at Rivian? Scout President says Scout will have “real buttons”

Iā€™m puzzled. I must be missing something. Please, what is so important or useful about being able to view the odometer while driving? In my experience the odometer is one of the least used pieces of information available In a vehicle. For the uses I have made of that information it can...
  2. R1S Finally Ready for Driving with Full PPF Installed!

How do you plan to clean/wash it? Power wash, hand wash, drive thru car wash? And is that how you cleaned your other two? Did you ever have any issues with the ppf on your other two ā€¦ peeling of the ppf, un-self healing scratches/cuts, or significant shrinkage of the ppf that actually...
  3. Stranded After Charging - Towed and Repaired

I would have asked that of Rivian as they are the ones who made it work that way.
  4. Aftermarket jack

Use a flat faced punch and hammer to drive it out. Slides right out. If no punch available can make one with appropriate sized nail by grinding/filing the point flat.
  5. "Park brake performance reduced on steep grades" -- new since 2023.50.01?

As others have said the front brakes are not applied when in park; so front wheels could turn/roll. If you had put the rocks behind the front tires it probably would not have ā€œslippedā€ since those tires were on dry concrete.
  6. Annoying "Courtesy" Wipers.. mind of their own.

Iā€™ve read of others experiencing these ā€œcourtesy wipesā€, but I have never had a single one. My wipers never operate unless I switch them to one of the ā€œonā€ positions. I always keep mine in the ā€œoffā€ setting unless I need them.
  7. Massive decline in mileage

Donā€™t really know your situation as you donā€™t really provide a lot of details, but based on my recent experience I would guess it is the colder weather. My R1S is on 20ā€ ATs, and has about 8,500 miles on it. My overall efficiency for the first 7000 miles was 2.19 mi/kw. For the last 1,500...
  8. Driver+ PSA - Dangerous behavior near express lane

Good for you. I agree with you in this 100%. I think a lot of injuries and deaths could have been avoided if everyone followed that line of thinking. Even Tesla, being far ahead of most with their years spent developing vehicle self-driving, has had numerous documented instances of...
  9. Driver+ PSA - Dangerous behavior near express lane

Now that you know how bad the vehicle can drive itself why donā€™t you just drive it yourself instead of expecting other drivers to be extra careful around you while you experiment with the vehicleā€™s self-driving.
  10. First "trip" with an EV

Looks like a car behind him. No trailer that I can see in the pic. Maybe my eyes are failing me.
  11. 85mph at SLO?

Regardless what speed the cruise control is set to you actually can adjust it to whatever speed you want. When cruise control is set simply press the buttons on either side of the thumb control on the right side of steering wheel. The left button will decrease the speed, and the right button...
  12. Software Update 2023.50 -- Scheduled battery preconditioning & other useful improvements!

Is that on a residential service? I ask because I had a house in Sedona a few years ago, and was never subjected to a demand charge. In my experience, demand charges are generally used for commercial and industrial customers.
  13. Austin, we have a problem! Tesla descends into battery hell

This especially! Plus the various investigations going on in the US and other countries regarding Tesla having required thousands of owners to pay for suspension repairs that should have been covered by warranty. Also, potential unionization issues.
  14. Tire Pressure for Partial Load

I have run 80 psi rated tires on many different vehicles over the years, but have never heard this. Please explain why, and what happens if you do go lower.
  15. New email - Option to take delivery outside of service center radius

I respectfully disagree with that statement. Do you have any data to back it up? I donā€™t know the exact number of people using this forum, but there are 756 pages of members listed with about 20 per page which would indicate about 15,120 registered users. Many users donā€™t even have their...
  16. Took a 2K mile road trip for the first time with my R1. Here are my impressions

An interesting read. You bring up some good points. The EV public charging infrastructure for non-Tesla vehicles is definitely in need of improvement, and I think that will come with time. Luckily, most EV owners (other than apartment dwellers, unfortunately) only need it for long trips as we...
  17. Took a 2K mile road trip for the first time with my R1. Here are my impressions

So what are you saying here? Having spent 45 minutes speaking with them, did you question/discuss the situation with their chargers often broken, not working properly, etc? What was their response/explanation?
  18. 2023.46 Software Update Details (Highway Assist / Driver+ / Navigation & More...)

ā€œā€¦ mind on driving ā€¦ā€ being the most important part in my opinion.
