Hey all, out of curiosity a while ago, I scheduled our 2026 R1S to get itself ready by 2:00, pulling from the charger and heating the car. This was at 1:15. 2:00 comes and despite it being listed as scheduled in the app, the car was sleeping.

It works when triggering an immediate climate action, so I went on with my day.

Today, after several updates and nav/soft/hard resets over months, I tried to schedule it again to heat up at 1:30. I did this at 1:10. 1:30 comes and the car is sleeping. Takes a minute to wake it up. No sign anything was working or battery preconditioning or anything. Battery temp was in the 40’s.

Checked the app. 1:30 was listed. Am I missing something? Does scheduling take 24 hours to go into effect?

I’d full reset to see if it fixes it, but the car has been full reset at least four times between the two attempts. Soft reset a handful of times. I don’t think that’s fixing it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
In my experience, setting a conditioning schedule on the day you want it to start will not work. Not sure if others experience it, but I know I have multiple times (across G1 and G2 trucks).

To make sure your car isn't broken, set one for tomorrow at a time when you can verify it's working. If that doesn't work (and you've done all the resets) then I'd get it into service.

I can’t get it to work at all for the past several releases. The schedules I have listed in the app don’t show up in the vehicle and the schedules I have in the vehicle don’t show up in the app. The vehicle does act upon the schedules that I set in the vehicle but ignore anything I set in the app. I wonder if it’s a backend sync issue on Rivian’s end. I’ve tried all the resets, deleting the app, etc to no avail.

Sounds like an app issue. You can try the service section of the app to report an issue, if it is working, you will get a virtual AI assistant to help troubleshoot and define the issue, then request a service ticket.

If it is not working, you will have to find a working telephone and call the service line and speak in real time to a tech - they can help troubleshoot the issue or schedule an appointment.

As Mike mentioned, my first thought is it is due to the close nature of when you are setting it. I have 4 schedules currently on my app and they work flawlessly. When I make changes, it works, but I am also not trying to make changes in the next 20 minutes.
Try scheduling something for tomorrow and see if it works. That can at least help you narrow it down.

Mine (Gen 1) usually works but I’m usually scheduling it the day/night before. Try changing the name of the schedule as well. I scheduled one minutes ago for tomorrow morning, I will report back. I noticed it takes time for the icon via the app in the upper right corner to appear when a schedule is set.

Also, I found a bug just now when planning a trip. When I set the departure time via trip preferences, it’s not reflecting correctly. It’s set to 9:24am on the trip preference screen. When I apply it and update the trip the time shows 10:25am.

I have waited days and months and they don’t show up either direction. Maybe it’s a profile or sync issue with the app.

Thanks all. Glad it’s not just a singular case. Reporting back that I tried scheduling for a day later. No dice.

Seems to be something related to the car sleeping when it reaches the scheduled time. Stays asleep. However, when I woke the car up and was in it and scheduled, the now awake car recognized what was in the app.

If the car decides to stay asleep, not much one can do.

Have you experienced Internet connectivity issues? Can you manually start the heat or AC via the app when the vehicle is in sleep mode? What is the sleep/wake pattern?

No connection issues. I’ve had those before where the app says no cloud connection, but not for quite a while after a hard reset.

All good with manually triggering the climate to turn on because that automatically wakes the car up. Says “waking” before you are allowed to adjust the temperature up or down.

I will say despite all the resets and the switch from Bluetooth to Apple Key, there occasionally are times when it still takes the car 15-20 sec to wake up. Might be my specific car, but it really loves deep sleep.

The schedule icon is now visible. I had to change the time and when I saved it, the icon showed up.

Mine still works as expected.

I take that back. Although it started conditioning at the right time, it didn’t warm the cabin to 68 as I have it set to. Its stuck at 57 and it’s beyond 10 AM which was my departure time.
