Curious what about it wasnāt meeting the need. We have two kids (one and five). The R1S has been more than sufficient, especially hauling a full Christmas gift load + luggage, kids, stroller, an 80lb dog, dog stuff, and two adults.
Even with dual car seats, I was out with the boys on Friday...
Will flip our 2026 R1S Dual Max for the Gen 3 R1S Quad as soon as it gets good reviews (or demonstrates the current manufacturing kinks have been ironed out.)
R2 is too small for my liking. Wanted a Quad this go round but having never owned an EV, I wanted to see how important the extra range...
No connection issues. Iāve had those before where the app says no cloud connection, but not for quite a while after a hard reset.
All good with manually triggering the climate to turn on because that automatically wakes the car up. Says āwakingā before you are allowed to adjust the temperature...
Thanks all. Glad itās not just a singular case. Reporting back that I tried scheduling for a day later. No dice.
Seems to be something related to the car sleeping when it reaches the scheduled time. Stays asleep. However, when I woke the car up and was in it and scheduled, the now awake car...
Hey all, out of curiosity a while ago, I scheduled our 2026 R1S to get itself ready by 2:00, pulling from the charger and heating the car. This was at 1:15. 2:00 comes and despite it being listed as scheduled in the app, the car was sleeping.
It works when triggering an immediate climate...
āRivian is calling marketing demos "aprĆØs events" at upscale ski resorts while armed para-militants are shooting Honda moms protesting in the streets here in the USA.ā
Thatās a great point.
Depends on where you are. Itās not at all uncommon here to have a household income of $500k with both people making $250k or more before bonuses or side income. Thatās definitely not defined as rich. Point being that itās all relative. Having said that, a new Rivian is half of a G-Wagon or more...
I plan to keep mine until Spring and swap the OEM Perelli for the Michelin Defender LTX or the Nokian Ones to get that 22ā efficiency 3 out of 4 seasons.
Donāt think so. Range hit was immediate. Has gotten worse as itās gotten colder. ā26 Dual Max Perf. Mostly on Standard with auto off. Tires are between 47-50 psi. Only addition that might be affecting it is added mudflaps, but those arenāt large and are mostly in the wheel wells.
However...
ā26 Max. I had to buy the 20ā AS wheel and tire set from the gear shop and have our SC swap them for the 22ā OEM Range, which they left in bags in the 2nd row/trunk. They wouldnāt swap as we were buying. Only after delivery.
On range, big hit. Regularly went from 2.5~ to 1.5~ around town...
Heck yeah. We were Lincoln Park/Eastern Market for 20 years. Moved to Charlottesville and I miss Capitol Hill every week. Especially the walk down East Capitol with a dog. Canāt imagine street parking a Rivian though.
Me and the boys disagree! R1S with ATs whips the shit out of a Tahoe any day of the week. We have four now in our friend group. Our wives do drive them, but my wife can barely get in the car unless itās in lowest. She additionally hates that I put the 4Kines camo seat covers in. I also see...
I personally wouldnāt buy another R1S with 22ā tires. Comfort difference between 22ā and 20ā is so significant that 20ā is really the only size Iād recommend.
Two toddlers, one 75+lb golden. One rear facing, one front facing car seat. Around town without the dog, perfect size. With the dog and no bags, it works. With bags and stroller, it only works if all bags fit in frunk/sub-trunk. Stroller can be in back with dog against the wall. If any bags have...
Iām seeing a few things here.
1) The R1T crowd is heavily weighing in on a critique of the R1S.
2) Condescendingly saying ābut my truck drives greatā means nothing
3) Some of OPās issues are fair criticisms of what is billed as a premium SUV, some are not.
4) As an early 40ās wealthy dude...
I mean, thereās a whole lot of us who happily bought a G2 Rivian for $80-$120k. Itās probably less want than Polestar just isnāt good at making you want a Polestar.
