As I constantly read about owners not being able to get into their R1Ts, I get more worried every week. Obviously the key cards and phone options are struggling with reliability, has anyone been having major issues with the key fobs? I keep hoping this one gets sorted long before I ever see one in my driveway.

The fob works kinda strange for me. Isn't always responsive. I'm assuming it's just due to how they have it set up, and they will eventually get it working when they flip it over to being an active connection instead of passive.

Mine worked fine until the battery died while I was in Canada a couple weeks ago.

Sounds like my fob is getting a firmware update this week as well, and a new battery.

I’m fairly certain this is software related. I’ve been through a few updates and have had varying levels of performance from the key fob based on that.

Mine works decently. The range is very very short compared to my old Ram fob.

Also it takes a second or 2 after pressing the button for the truck to process.

I use the fob pretty much exclusively, no card or bracelet.

I have always been able to access the vehicle. The issue is a time delay of a few seconds sometimes . I have not heard of anybody being locked out.

I'm telling you the Access problems is my biggest gripe with this truck. On delivery, my fob did not work. Didnt really bother me b/c I prefer to use my phone. They sent someone out to reprogram and it worked for a while. I dropped my truck off to get the windshield replaced and my power tonneau repaired. I left them the fob. They called me back asking if I can bring in the NFC card because the fob wont work. Two days in I got a message on my cell that says the "alarm was triggered." I didn't realize it had an active alarm.

A few days later, my services were complete. They said they have to order me a new fob and I left there not realizing my phone would no longer work as a key. So, I now have a new service ticket.

I have a relative that got his R1T two weeks after mine and he complains about his access issues as well. Mostly the amount of time it takes to read his presence to unlock.

I noticed after the most recent update a few weeks ago that the fob is very hit or miss.

When the car is in complete sleep mode, when you unlock with the fob it takes about 5 seconds for a response.

If the car is not in sleep mode I noticed that sometimes the fob won't lock the vehicle and even after waiting five or so seconds, I have to hit it again for it to be recognized.

I can't believe key fobs have been around since the '80s and this is a perfect example of the worst implementation I've ever seen.

I'm further dumbfounded by how many engineers probably tested this vehicle and thought the key fob performed acceptably.

Some of them probably didn’t…the older ones that thought that stuff oughta work before you ship it. They likely got overruled by the “Minimum Viable Product/Continuous Improvement” crowd.
So just keep waiting. In the meantime, you got Dog Mode, and some kind of Simpson’s Easter egg. Fart sounds can’t be far behind that, I’m sure safety/security features are in the backlog somewhere S00N.

My Fob still says “Set up” even though it works fine. Had to have my phone Rebooted yesterday and it told me I needed to add the phone key. didnt have the Fob but had the NFC card. Took me several minutes to get into truck. When I tried to add my phone back on it said I’d reached my limit. I had to delete my phone from the truck so I could add my phone to the truck. I wish they would let us have at least 3 phones as keys so I can add my son who runs errands for me at times.
