Short update on my R2 experience. 900 miles on the clock and all is well except for a pesky large screw that found it's way into a tire in a non-reparable zone.....
I was out mountain biking at a trailhead 15 miles off of pavement on some rough forest service roads. Returned from my ride and...
What we are missing is the cost adder to make the R2 800V. Without that we cannot really make an informed trade off decision.
I put on 25,000 miles per year and seldom fast charge so for me I would not be willing to pay much extra for 800V because I just would not benefit from it.
This is the dog hammock.

We’ve had several different kinds and this one is working out very well so far.
I checked the CCS to NACS adapter I got from Rivian for my R2. It says 500A max current. So it could have the pin melting issue Tom mentioned in the video.
R1 and R2 wheels are not interchangeable. Bolt pattern is different. Vehicle weight is very different so tire load ratings are very different so putting a R2 load rated tire on a R1 would be a very bad idea so Rivian is trying to not let that happen.
Mostly the range hit. I also find them less smooth to drive an and a bit more noisy. Also very heavy. I change my own tires. I have an all terrain set of wheels and tires as well as winter. So I’m in a position where I’m willing/able to specialize a bit with tires. I wish I had stuck with...
Seats are highly personal. The R1 seats are the best I’ve ever had in a vehicle. I’m 6’1” and slender. If those are 10/10 the R2 is 8/10. The butt cushioning seems a bit less.
No idea about range hit. I’ve just rolled all the windows down after golfing or mt biking to get some initial cooling then roll’em up. The one button feature to roll up all windows at once is another thing that is surprisingly nice. It’s the button above the windshield by the cabin light.
I've only been doing short trips so can't really say. I've tweaked the position of the seat a lot at first but the last few drives I have not felt the need so maybe I have it dialed in......
Been hauling a bike around on a rack. I've noticed the hitch on the R2 sticks out farther than the R1...
HVAC system was off. Gear Guard as we know it on R1 is not enabled yet on R2. Both vehicles NOT plugged into a level 2 charger.
Another data point. Last night the R2 was plugged into my cabin level 2. While parked in the garage over 12 hours it used 0.0 kwh as reported by the energy monitor.
I just looked again at the screenshot of the 0.2 kWh energy use on the R2. It’s during the 5:00 to 5:30 time segment which is when I opened the door to look at the screen so maybe that 0.2 came from me waking it up. Tempted to say it’s actually 0.0 drain….
