I wonder how the desicant works in these types of systems. Does the desiccant need replacement at some point or does it run a resistance heater at some point and drive the moisture out?
Not sure if Rivian is the same or not but my 2015 Ram Limited had a factory air suspension. It was a closed system filled with nitrogen. If it ever let air in, it would continue to run but would warn the driver to get it serviced. If not, it would freeze in the winter time. I had it for 9.5 years and 80k miles with no issues with the air suspension.

I would immediately buy that....if it was real....
Shame they don't print books anymore. When I was a kid, this was one of my most prized possessions:

Rivian R1T R1S Air Suspension Technical Info? 1716927699859-0k

Still have it. Although I'll probably never open it again, other than to smell the pages. ?

I wanted to do some research on the air suspension system used by Rivian, but I can't find much info at all. What do we know about it so far?

Is it a closed system that uses nitrogen in an onboard pressure tank, similar to what Jeep uses?

Or is it an open system that uses ambient air without a pressure tank, similar to what Land Rover uses?

Does the system have an air dryer (desiccant) to help with moisture freeze during the winter?

Do we know who manufactures the air suspension components (air bags, compressor, valve block, etc...)?

I'm a big fan of air suspension systems and it would be nice to know a bit more about the system in the R1 vehicles. Not a lot of info is out there that I can find though...
Hi
I am the founder / ex owner of Dunlop Systems who developed and initially supplied the air suspension system for R1

What pressure does it operate at? Does it pull in make-up air in the event of a slow leak? Does the compressor have a temperature sensor that shuts it down at a predetermined temp? What temperature will it shut down?
