I'm glad to see them creating new options but the expanse of leather on the dash seems out of place in this type vehicle... just my opinion.

I think it’s a smart move from Rivian. I’m pretty sure this option represents a cost savings to them, and potentially could speed up manufacturing if sourcing the wood has been a constraint…

Monroe said the wood design was dumb and expensive. This will easily save time and money.

I will stick with the Forest Edge and the light wood, thank you very much!

I have a scheduled phone call with my Guide this morning. I am going to request the vegan dash option for my OC interior.

It will push my order to a 2023 but that‘s OK since my order is going on 2-years now. The white air bag cover will now match the dashboard and it will eliminate aging wood trim down the road.

Really streamlining production by offering more trim Accents ?

Only saves them money if people order it. I don’t really see the market for the black mountain without the wood. Same color scheme but less luxurious and arguable more difficult to maintain.
Ocean coast may meet the desire for a lighter environment, but wood seems to really capture the outdoor adventure and integrate with nature brand.
The fact they cost the same as the wood options seems kind of odd.
The wood is actually the reason I got forest edge, it is interesting they didn’t do an option there. Maybe because it is less popular.

Anyone know what’s under the vegan leather? It looks to be exactly the same shape as the wood trim.

Are they covering wood - like a carpet hiding hardwood floors situation? ?

I personally prefer the wood. I absolutely love it in my Forest Edge interior. The vegan wrap options looks way too much like a boring Tesla interior to me. I’m definitely keeping a wood trim option for my second reservation, but I like that there are more options.

Rivian always finds a way to screw things up.

I’ve been waiting for this option since the announcement in August.

It’s not available on Launch Editions. Guide confirmed this morning.

So stupid and nonsensical.

Hmmm...... Leather looks more upscale imo as I've always avoided wood trimmed options so definately some decisions to make. I like the look of the Ocean Coast but still doubting how it will hold up to staining over time. Had an all white leather interior on a Mustang GT convertible in years gone by and although it looked great, it didnt age well. Like to hear opinions so i'll be watching this thread.

It’s possible that under the new vegan cover option is unfinished wood. Just a possibility.

But in any regards this could be a sign of what is to come in 2023/24 orders as initial Launch design elements are dropped and others added. What could be dropped altogether is the exposed finished wood dash and instead light and dark vegan leather covers only as cost savings start to be implemented. Just IMO.

Actually not odd at all. Costs them less to manufacture = more profitable product for a startup that will be bleeding cash for quite some time. I'm happy with the wood, but like the options.
