This isSounds like he's preparing all you R2 owners to drop 70k.....
Pricing for the R1T starts at $61,500 after Federal Tax credit. Deliveries will begin in late 2020. Fully-equipped vehicles with the highest performance level and largest battery pack will enter production first. The 180 kWh pack (400+ miles range) and 135 kWh pack will be available at launch, with the base variant (250+ miles range) to follow within 12 months of the start of production.
Rivian is now accepting preorders for a refundable deposit of $1,000.
My guess is that the R2 will cost as much as the R1 was originally advertised to be.
And then every year the price will go up significantly.
By the time R3 comes to market the R2 will be so much more expensive than it originally was that the R3 will launch at the same price as the R2 did.
It will be a lot cheaper than the R1 and R2 are at that time. But much more expensive than everyone is hoping.
Every Rivian (R1, R2, and R3) will start out as a $60K vehicle.
For anyone who wasn't paying attention to Rivian back when R1T was announced. It was supposed to be a $60K vehicle.

I was going to respond as well but couldn't tell if he was trolling or being serious. This is intellectually dishonest. Your quote specifically says "with the federal tax credit," which was $7,500, so a real cost of $69,000. You can get a new R1T for just over $70k, which is a whopping $1,000 more than your quoted text advertises it for.
