Arrived at the Franklin TN SC this morning to drop off our R1S and grab a second R2 test drive. They have a Midnight R2 getting ready for delivery. Interestingly it was parked between a R1T and R1S, both in Half Moon Gray, so the first time Iāve seen that color on the R1. Not great pics since it...
Me either, but I've been involved building a few race cars. š¤£
Just adding the new seat mounts mean the foundation of the R1S that's been used since the beginning probably has to change. I'm sure something could be fabricated to use the existing 2nd row mounting points, but then you'd get the...
Not necessarily all that easy since it wasn't designed that way from the start. May require a new floor to implement the mounting points. new trim/carpet to finish the now exposed floor area. Obviously the seats. Plus all those new parts to inventory.
Yes, those are simple vents to the outside behind the rear bumper cover that all cars have. Anyone who has ridden in the back of a 3 row vehicle without rear air knows these absolutely do not make it just as comfortable as rows with actual AC vents. š¤£
Expect zero changes. Be pleasantly surprised if there's anything at all.
Gotta admit the only thing I ultimately want to see is end of Gen2 deals that rival those on the final Gen1s š¤£
You're correct on the rear seat vent location for R2 and I can see where that could be an issue for pets in the cargo area. Of course that isn't unique to R2. There are rarely (never?) vents past the last seat row in vehicles, especially small SUV like this. The reason the Y L has C pillar vents...
yeah, compared to R1 the frunk is shallow, narrow front-to-back, and the floor isn't flat. I'll be checking out R2 again on Thursday but from what I recall I doubt any useful hardsided cooler would fit up there.
R2 is the same length/width as Tesla Y, Ford Mockey, Ioniq5, etc and similar to Rav4/CRV and other small crossovers. So parking shouldn't be a problem. R3 is smaller still. Looked a bit "chunky" in person and bigger overall than something like a VW GTI but I don't have dimensions for it. Maybe...
SHHHHH!!!!! Everyone knows Superchargers are the only ones you should ever use. Mercedes doesnāt even make chargers. They just rebrand units from other networks. Never use those when traveling!
(seeā¦if you always respond as above you can help keep our preferred Mercedes chargers easily...
Software is hard, that is why not having the solutions for problems already solved is weird. Especially basic functions that us OG early adopters saw implemented over time and now have to wait to be implemented again. The logical baseline is OS 2.0 would include features from its predecessor...
Like I said⦠I know why people say it. Itās not the same as R1 because Gen2 R1 is actually the real Gen2 R1 that also happens to correlate with Gen2 compute platform. With R2 it gets weird because Gen1 R2 has Gen2 compute but will soon have Gen3 compute. While R1 may not get Gen3 compute until...
Are they? Those are all still missing in R2 at the moment, right? Thatās why my take is the OS 2.0 feels like my R1T OS circa 2022 but with new GUI. I canāt fathom why features that we added over the past four years are missing in the initial 2.0 release. Especially something like the garage...
Due to the heavy lift of ramping R2 production I expect 2027 R1 to be exactly like 2026 R1 from a hardware perspective. Maybe there will be some minor enhancements, or some cosmetic changes, but those would be a bonus.
Pet mode is just one of a set of features that are inexplicably missing in OS 2.0 that were added to 1.0 over the last four years. It's almost as if they put a new GUI on the OG software. Pet mode is one thing that affects a certain demographic, but how could they not have garage doors at launch?
