Rivian Service Listens! Glen Burnie, MD Service Center Grand Opening 😎

As most of you know I have been very outspoken about the challenges with Rivian service and parts supply. Hopefully most who have read my sometimes critical comments realize I am talking about the policies and not the people at the Rivian service centers. In fact, that has been the part that had me even more frustrated because the people at the service centers are such a great bunch. But were overloaded.

I have it from a reliable unnamed source that the service issues are being prioritized at the highest levels at Rivian. Rivian is listening to all of us who have had frustrating service experiences. I am excited to see what Rivian will do with service over the next 6-12 months.

In the meantime here is a short but fun video of the grand opening of the Glen Burnie, MD Rivian service and demo center. I have a future video coming on the RCV.

What do you all think about Rivian opening additional service centers? Are you excited to see what the future will hold for Rivian? If Rivian can deliver a significant improvement in service wait times I think they will be considered the leader in the EV space. It was great to see all the Rivian employees, many of whom have been there for the last 4 years!

I have been hard on Rivian about their service wait times and the parts supply issues but I have always maintained that I want Rivian to succeed because I think they are doing just about everything else right! I feel like Rivian is listening and improving...what do you think?

What they need is a service center on the south side of the Potomac (and Richmond doesn’t count).

I’ve heard rumors of Leesburg or Sterling, but I asked when at Gaithersburg in February, and they didn’t have any info, other than the same rumors.

I’ll take your word for it. I forgot my Facebook password a year ago, and the email associated with it was three companies ago.

I hear you.....Rivian doesn't have a choice on the service piece. I see them opening more service centers. As others have stated Sterling, VA should open soon to my understanding.

It isn't just a Rivian issue to solve. They told me in February 23 they were opening the Edison NJ center, that never happened. They opened a small spot in Trenton while building a new one near by. Now there is a new destination for central NJ in Woodbridge.

They need the towns, workers, location, equipment and it all to line up right for it to happen in a timely fashion. Some areas are easier than others but this is a challenge.

I just had mobile service at my house last week to replace my dodgy camp speaker. Guy was great, spent a lot of time talking and looking at stuff. He said it's going to be very close to One Loudoun, and he's hoping to transfer there - after commuting from Leesburg to Gaithersburg for the past year.

Also, we have the showroom at Tysons opening "s00n".

Editing my own comment to add just saw my first Rivian Amazon van here in Manassas a few minutes ago. Was behind it going down Manassas Drive. Still had temp tags on it. This is such a huge area for Amazon, hopefully we get those coming here soon now, as well.

Though I will unlikely ever go to the Glen Burnie SC, it's bound to take some of the load off the Gaithersburg SC. Even better when Sterling is open, though I'd like it even more if I didn't have to ever go back.

Editing my own comment to add just saw my first Rivian Amazon van here in Manassas a few minutes ago. Was behind it going down Manassas Drive. Still had temp tags on it. This is such a huge area for Amazon, hopefully we get those coming here soon now, as well.

I’m shocked that I have not seen one yet in my driveway, given the frequency with which my wife orders from them…

Regarding Sterling, new service center will be at 42750 Trade W Dr, Sterling, VA 20166
Permits were pulled last October. Feel free to track the progress on Loundon Country’s permit system. I’d expect a soft opening this summer.

Second everything said about Malvern. Very pleasantly surprised that Rivian was able to get the OK from the Commonwealth for the SC, given the restrictive and antiquated dealer-centric regulations.
