And only in an R1S... He's got an R1T.
Forgot about that - my bad.

Funny, I didn't have a rear wiper for years - Model S, Model X, Model 3 and then Model Y - but since I've had the R1S 18 months I just assume it's a normal thing. Though I guess the R2 won't have one because the window opens.

Curious how many of you do a hard reset after installing any new updates. If so why. Cheers
I think only once over the past year. Maybe that’s one too many times in the view of some/many?

You do know you can wash the rear camera, right? Put the car in reverse, long push the rear wiper button on the end of the turn indicator stalk to wash the rear window. It will also spray a jet on the camera - but only when you're in reverse.
Someone read the manual!!!!!

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Did you guys know you can also lick your finger and then wipe the rear camera off with it before you get in the vehicle. Not in the manual, but I've had it work on both the S and T.🤗
Just lick the camera directly.

Why use your finger as the middle-man? That's just gross.

Skipped the middle man like @mikehmb suggested. Works great.
I installed the update, took about 50 minutes. I would say getting out of the driveway in reverse seems smoother, previously it would feel jerky. Recently when I scrolled through Spotify, the audio would pause, and the pages would just scroll so fast, despite very slowly scrolling. Seems to be working great now. No issues so far.

Not necessarily. 4Runners have one and their rear window opens. I’m hoping the R2 will be the same.

what did they say? This is so frustrating. Started for me July or August of last year but at least media reset temporarily fixed it then. Doesn’t now.

they have me bringing it in to SC, again, and I have zero confidence they’ll fix it. Meanwhile wassym acknowledged on Reddit the issue existed 2 years ago.
The guy I talked with said he was not aware of this being an issue. I had opened a ticket a month ago and was told the update would resolve it.

I have a mobile appt. On 2/18/25 but am skeptical that anything will change ass a result.

Please, if you are having this issue, open a ticket so Rivian knows what's going on.

Bingo. I was about to explain… I had a loaner R1S and was a little irritated to find they’d slacked on this feature with the R1T after seeing how effective it is on the S. I get that it’s easier/cheaper since they already have plumbing back there for the rear wiper, but it just seems cheap to me that they didn’t include this feature on the T when they clearly saw the utility of it generally (enough to include on the S).

I have confirmed with a mobile technician where to route a line, where to T-off of, and that it’s viable in theory. I have all the hose and barbed fittings I’ll need, and a couple spray nozzle types to try to run my own, but I’m waiting (ironically) until my truck isn’t covered in salt and road grime, which will probably be a couple months before I crack into the project.

Your update isn't going to install. 7 percent is where it fails. Mine did that last month and ended up having to go to SC to have installed. Do BOTH resets before you call service and they will push it a second time. They will not push it a third time. Will send you to the SC. Mine failed yesterday too. Did the resets and am trying again now.
Yikes! Thankfully the update failed and my wife was able to use the car earlier today. Let me know how it goes for you after the resets. I’ll probably try that method as well.

✋ I always do. I held off for a while this time. I installed while parked in my in-laws driveway last night. Driving home noticed my external drive wasn't working. Motion cam was working when parked. Finally got around to a hard reset, now my drive is recognized. We'll see about motion cam when I head out for errands in a bit.

I was having the proximity sensor issues so I started installing this around 8:30 this AM. It's 9:35 and the update is stuck at 7%
And, btw, I am having sensor issues too. Supposedly this update will fix them.
This update fixed the proximity sensor issue for me and my iPhone. After the update, I deleted my phone key then re-added it and now proximity sensing works like it should on my gen 2.
