The fundamental issue with the ride being too hard for some, or not sporty enough for others, is the lack of CarPlay or Android Auto. Let’s be honest. :)

I'm pleasantly surprised and now, I comment often, to non-Rivian owners, how aggressive they are with OTA upgrades and smaller software fixes along the way. I really enjoy the way my R1T performs over 2 years ago and my wifes R1S has been amazing, from fit and finish to ride.

When I went into the Rivian world, my mindset was, this is a start-up, this will have some pain and I knew darn well it was a premium priced vehicle and I didn't expect Lexus quality. I do expect improvement, proactive responses, and a better overall service experience. Build some more service centers and do it quickly :).

These are tech marvels, a 7-seater SUV that is a monster and a truck, that meets all my needs. If I want long distance towing, I drive a diesel. I know what I have and love it. Carry-on.
I'm also super happy with the frequency and breadth of the updates put out by Rivian thus far. Not every one has been mind boggling, but thinking back a year to when I picked it up and the app could really only lock and unlock it, it's added up. Now if they could only figure out a way to make the suspension quieter with a software update...

I would like the option for no glass roof. And less cabin noise as current averages between similar vehicles is only 3-5db in cabin volume.

Active noise canceling! There are microphones everywhere. This could be a thing!

Someone can correct me if wrong but I recall this being a stated function of the Meridian audio system that came with all LE and Adventure trims. I would agree that no active noise canceling is occurring or I wouldn't be experiencing wind noise.

Is that wind noise active or passive? Sorry, couldn't help it.

I think what they’re looking for is an S class. ☠
Maybach. RR Phantom. I'm not exactly a beacon of healthy living and to me the ride on soft is plenty compliant. If anyone is experiencing pain while riding on soft, they really should get checked for kidney stones.

Hah, yes, the ride is rougher in soft than any of the states options above. But agree that if someone is in pain they need a doctor!

hope it is WAY better than what we had in our Tesla model S. That was a scam.

Lest everyone seems to forget that at one point in time, you purchased a vehicle and lived with EXACTLY how it rolled off the lot for the entirety of your ownership.

People arguing over 'why can't we get X, Y, or Z,' are a bunch of the entitled people I'd prefer to distance myself from. The same people who would lose their absolute minds if the software improvement presented a bug that irked them (and who don't understand what it takes to QC and release software, especially as quickly as Rivian is).

The very IDEA you can buy a vehicle today, that can incrementally get better, is INCREDIBLE, and I'm here for it!
While I agree that we all chose to purchase a Rivian, and therefore it is our burden to bear, I don't agree at all that we should accept the vehicle EXACTLY as it rolled of the lot. That is completely contrary to Rivian's own philosophy and marketing.
Rivian has been marketing their OTA updates almost more than anything else. They have continued to tell customers that your vehicle will get better over time. This is especially true because they are new manufacturer and had to get vehicles sold and on the road as quickly as possible. Wassym even said in a recent interview that the suspension was not up to par and not at all what they expected. Yet, they still sold vehicles with that suspension. It was a big complaint by many owners and likely a detriment to their brand and future sales. And then they addressed it with OTA update. Why? Because they delivered an un-refined product and they told their customers to bear with them while they continue to make improvements via OTA updates.
The list of things they have added via OTA updates is impressive. But also, the list of things the vehicle was lacking when they were first delivered is equally concerning.
ZERO people would have purchased (or would purchase today) a 2021 Rivian for $90,000 that hasn't received a single update and was EXACTLY as it was when it rolled off the lot. The entire Rivian pitch is something along the lines of "We are a new company. We have a great product. We know it isn't perfect, but that's why OTA updates are so great. Come take a chance with us and Keep the World Adventurous Forever". Don't beleive me? Just take a look at their own language that I've provided below.

Most people buying a Rivian expect continual improvement because 1) the vehicle isn't close to perfect, and 2) that is what Rivian has promised.

Read this and tell me that the you actually think the "the vehicle as it stands today is what you are buying" is an accurate statement. If that were true, why would they even bother with OTA updates?

https://stories.rivian.com/vehicle-technology-innovation

Here is just a few excerpts from one example. I'm sure I could find many other similar statements by Rivian.
"Of course, we will continually enhance these drive modes as well as add additional modes to fully leverage the capability of our platform. There are near-limitless possibilities for future enhancements, from more personalized, preference-based controls to new drive modes. "

"The sensors and the associated redundant compute platforms that consume this information were designed to enable us to continually enhance Driver+ with more features over time."

"Gear Guard, both the security system and the yellow monster, are a good example of how we’re always looking for ways to add value and peace of mind to our customers’ lives through thoughtful, integrated design, smart accessories, engineering, and technology. And we’re just getting started."

"OTA software updates mean virtually every part of the in-vehicle experience can evolve and expand over time, from enhanced UI to new features and entertainment options to new partnerships and apps coming online."

"While most R1 drivers may not take the time to unpack the tightly integrated technological architecture of their vehicle and the ecosystem built specifically to support it, they will certainly notice the ease of operating a smart, connected machine as well as the continued updates and enhancements we make to “unleash more and more capability over time,” Wassym said. "

Hey guys,

I just got my Rivian a few weeks ago so I'm fairly new here. How long after these updates are spotted do they generally start rolling out to customers?

The tipoff has usually been that the phone app is updated and the vehicle updates start rolling out in 5-7 days. Maybe not EVERY time but usually so. Vehicle rollouts are totally random.

Releases are every four weeks. Plus or minus a few days.

Numbering is based on the week of the year they start working on the release.
2024.03 means they started it on the third week of 2024.

2024.03 will be pushed out roughly 4 weeks after it was started. So we'll almost certainly see it the 7th week of 2024, which is the week of 12 Feb.

This is a pattern that has held true for nearly two years now. For example, the previous release was 2023.50.1, which was started on the 50th week of 2023 (week of 11 Dec) and pushed out to customers four weeks later, on the 2nd week of 2024 (week of 8 Jan).

That makes a lot of sense! My truck came with the current firmware so I’ve yet to do an OTA with Rivian

Turn on the seat heaters or coolers and you get some white noise, air flowing noise, etc...when I first got the truck I couldn't figure out why the speakers were making white noise, then I figured out the source.
