Maybe I've just missed this in the past, but saw this section in the current Owner's Manual:

Rivian R1T R1S Rivian OEM Storage Drawer appears in Owner's Manual! 1695666842496

Since when did Rivian have a Storage Drawer available for the Camp Speaker cavity?

another quiet change Rivian made. RJ hinted at making a lockable storage drawer in an interview with MKBHD a few months back. and it showed up in the manual not long after. of course no one knows when it'll actually show up as something we can buy.

my guess is the storage drawer either becomes the standard option and the camp speaker optional or both become optional accessories to buy.

I'd wager something would have to be standard based on their caution in the manual
"Only store items in the drawer of the Accessory Dock and not in the cavity of the dock"

If they are cutting costs then the Storage Drawer makes more sense than the Camp Speaker as the standard option, or they would want some sort of cover to block off that cavity for the even cheaper route.

I was surprised they didn't do that with the flashlight once it was available for purchase out of the gear shop.

I would very much like to see that storage drawer become reality. I could really use that.

RJ mentioned this in Marques Brownlee's podcast some months back. I'd be willing to bet this will be the standard feature while Camp Speaker become added-cost option.

They probably will do that and have a plug that goes in it's place if no flashlight.

Do you have some insider knowledge on this? In my mind 3D printing doesn't really scale well. Rapid prototyping? Additive manufacturing is the way. Mass produced goods? Injection molding is a better answer.

I was being facetious.

I guess I dropped the /s :)

Sorry for the confusion.

PS: this now completely depends on volume and methodology--there are absolutely ways to use Additive Manufacturing for volume. Check out the HP MultiJet fusion series, for example. The parts are even isotropic. I probably *wouldn't* for this effort, but you definitely *could.*
