$595.. very reasonable.. and like the rest of the Gen III units, it can load-share between up to 6 EVSE's.

That's a good idea and a nice product. It's a step in the right direction.

But to be pedantic, it's not "NACS" and J1772, it's "Tesla" and J1772. While Tesla has published their specification, it is not a standard yet and has not even begun the standardization process. That process will in all likelihood end up with a standard that is backwards-compatible with the Tesla connector, but that is not a given. It happens all the time that tech is designed and released to conform with a proposed standard, but when the standard is finalized there are certain compatibility issues.

Well priced and really clever. We use an attachment often and it’s a pain. This would be great.

The most clever thing here is that Tesla has priced it so that it's lower cost than charger plus 3rd party adapter.

The adapters will still be needed for many years to come though for utilizing public chargers.

Also, I just checked the Tesla app and I no longer see the j1772 charger listed there. I wonder if that's been discontinued?

I’m sorry, an adapter that is housed in the charger case is still an adapter. Might even be worse as every time you use the charger for a Tesla you go through the disconnect/connect cycle for the J1772 adapter which could cause premature wear.

You can get a 48 amp Emporia J1772 charger for $399 and a good quality Lectron J1772 to Tesla adapter $50 giving you the same capability for $450.

This Tesla solution really only makes sense if you are going to use the circuit sharing feature.

Tesla should be commended for this IMO, they are attempting to make the NACS transition less scary for the average person. Even if I don't agree with the transition happening at all.

I wonder if they will sell just that adapter. I would like to use that with their destination chargers

Our Guide has indicated delivery of the R1S next week. Ordered the Rivian WC but no rebate/low cost electricity incentive with our provider so will return the Rivian WC (Guide said that’s no problem) and bought a Tesla J1772 from Tesla Amazon store (also saw they’d disappeared from Tesla website). Saw the Universal Charger but wait wait until November. Power Sharing of one circuit a big plus too as my wife is getting a Model 3 so we’ll get a standard Tesla charger too and share the power

Our Tesla charger is installed in a tight space between two garage doors. I can’t use the current docking method because the garage door rails are in the way. Otherwise, I’d jump on this in a heartbeat.
