Rivian Reservation Holders Maintain High ‘Intent to Buy,’ Says Research Survey

A survey conducted by Recurrent Auto, first gauged customers’ intent to buy different reserved models in June of last year (2022) but has since been updated with a replicated survey from last month (March 2023).

Survey looks at EV truck reservation holders and their intent to carry through. It appears the vast majority of Rivian reservation holders do intend to follow through with the purchase.

I'm more surprised by the lack of intent for silverado reservations. Did people reserve them just to keep others from being able to?

Probably because of the small sample size. The page says they surveyed over 200 people so probably < 225, does not say if that is the survey requests or responses but I am assuming responses. If the number of people out of that small pool was very small a couple of no responses really skews the percentages.

Overall interesting to see but not sure what if any value is actually in there.

Yeah, I don't get this. I would think it would be comparable to Ford at least.

By the time the Silverado reservation was released people figured out it was just a way to save your spot in line and are using it just to see what the final spec looks like and when it's released. Basically people started to collect them all. Rivian and the F150 are in production, so I think that intent is higher because it's real. I know several people who on a whim started just getting every truck reservation, that way they can wait and see what looks like the best option when they're actually released.

Tesla's is high (I'm guessing) because of brand loyalty and people thinking they'll get a 500 mile truck at $49k or whatever.
