  1. rivian R1S 21inch wheels vs 22inch wheels

I don't like the looks of 21 inch wheels on R1S. But 22 inch wheels additional $1800 and range will degrade by 5-10%. How will be the ride comfort with 22inch wheels vs 21 inch wheels? Does additional $1800 worth it for 22inch wheels? I am aware only Pirelli is making 21 inch tires for R1S.
  2. Anyone dropping an R1S/R1T reservation? LE or not

If anyone is planning to cancel their R1S/R1T reservation, I'd like to buy it from you. LE would be ideal, but I'm actually open to anything with an estimated delivery date between now and November 2022. Please send me a message if you are looking to cancel your reservation for any reason...
  3. R1S changes / improvements from 2023 and on?

So, since I am a bit of a realistic person. I am expecting to see my R1S around 2023 time frame. My main question is do you think that Rivian will continue to improve on hardware internal to the product lineup. Meaning if you get a R1S in 2022 it should be different from the 2023/24 vin...
  4. R1S Default 21” Road Tires, Aero Cover

Just curious, I’ve had a deposit on an R1S for a little over a month now and I was just reading their “performance” details page that discusses the various wheel/ tire options. I selected the default road tires with the 21” wheel because I’m most interested in range. The description of the...
  5. Finally Say Goodbye to Punctured Tires in 2024?

I've been binge watching the treasure trove of review videos yesterday and noticed the multiple experiences of tires being punctured along the trail. Here's one example of Zack from JRE puncturing a tire while trail riding. It's obvious that most of us won't be driving our R1T's or R1S's on...
  6. LIMESTONE R1T Photos

Does anyone have any real pictures of the limestone? I saw a bunch of threads for the different color options, but didn't see anything for limestone.
  7. Full size spare external placement

A lot of trucks these days have spares on the back... thinking Defender, Jeep, pretty much everything that is supposed to go off-road. Any chance we'll be able to get done kind of accessory to allow us to do that on the R1S? Wonder how that would affect drag? Else I guess we're looking at...
  8. What $70K ICE car would you have gotten ?

Hey Everyone, just wondering, If Rivian did not provide a suitable option for a (relatively) large EV SUV, what similarly priced ICE SUV would you have considered getting? Do you have concerns about the quality and reliability of the Rivian R1S vs. a legacy ICE based substitute ? Personally - I...
  9. Air compressor upgrade

I couldn't find any info on whether there is speculation or Rivian confirmation if the air compressor can be added to an Explore R1S by the owner. I was thinking maybe there will be a spot in the paneling, and the necessary power connections, so you could buy the part after the fact? It's the...
  10. What Else Are You Considering?

I have a separate thread on what type of driver is looking at Rivian and what needs it will meet here. Now I would like to hear what else you might be considering. In addition to the R1S, I am currently still considering a Tesla Model X. I have contemplated a few others, but it seems that...
  11. R1S - Great Value?

As I've been thinking more and more about it, I'm thrilled where the pricing came in for the R1S, but want a sanity check from this (albeit biased) board. I originally thought I'd be canceling my R1A reservation since I was certain the first ones would require $100k+ optioning...and obviously I...
  12. Power Rear Window

Has anyone heard rumors on if the R1S will include a power rear window? This is one of the elements of the Toyota 4Runner than I love, and would like to see it on the R1S. Given what I saw with the lower rear window wiper, I don't think that is the case now, but would like to see them pivot and...
  13. Windshield Wiper Fluid Dispensers

Hello Everyone!! Has anyone ever wondered where the windshield wiper fluid dispensers are placed and also where the fluid is stored? There is no place in the frunk to pour the fluid and also no dispensers on the hood. :surprised::fingerscrossed::confused::facepalm:
  14. "... Rivian will integrate Alexa into its electric pickup and SUV"

As reported by TechCrunch Rivian announces ahead of CES that it will integrate with Alexa. Rivian will integrate Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa into the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, the company’s first electric vehicles that are set to debut at the end of the year. Rivian said Monday it also plans...
  15. Rivian hitting the road again - announces some Fall 2019 - Winter 2020 destinations

Received an email from Rivian today stating some destinations they will be visiting this fall. From the email: In case the above image doesn't appear in your browser, the cities are: Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco. I'll update this post when they announce the dates. As of Aug 23, 2019...
  16. R1T vs R1S cargo area - how do you plan on utilizing it? Pros vs Cons?

I know there are a few of you out there, myself included, contemplating which one to order - R1T or R1S. One of the things I’m mulling over is the cargo area of each. So what do we know or can infer at this point about each cargo area? R1T Bed dimensions: Width: 54.5”, Length (gate up /...
  17. In need of more competitive range and motor efficiency compared to newly updated Tesla Model S & X ?

I just saw the news on the updates Tesla made today to Model S and X. The electric drive units seem far more advanced with higher efficiency despite still using same battery pack size (100 KwH) and much more range than before (325 miles in the Model X using 100 KwH battery pack). Is it possible...
